I know the feeling Steve. As you know, my wife and I are also expecting a little one in July. It's amazing how expensive they can be even before they're here!! :eek2: However, I know the reef is a great family hobby that we can enjoy together (unlike my other hobby - cars - which my wife despises, but yet I somehow continue to pursue  ). I figure just let time take it's course. I'm in no rush with the tank. If it takes a year or even 2 years to get it going, it will still be worth it in the end. Just be sure you do it right with no regrets!

Andy

Andy, i totally agree with you on taking the time to do it right. We are not in a hurry and we definitely need to do it right for the first time to avoid changing and upgrading. I do not want to repeat the mistake i make with my old 240g. As for the little one, it will be tough regardless and you can't never be ready like (tony Espinoza) said.

yup - as i said in my PM - there really is no way to truly prepare. sure, you can buy the crib and setup the room... but in the end, some people have an easier time and others have a harder time (like we did). there's no way to know. it will be really different, that's for sure. anyone who says it's all just super great is full of &*^!. it's hard work. my point being that you've gotta enjoy life and if this hobby is a big source of joy, it's the last thing you wanna lose. i'm not a fan of the whole, "dream tank" or "last tank" mindset tho -- i think it raises pressure and expectations too much, which isn't the source of joy in the hobby. the joy is in those moments when you figure something out, or see something working, or growing, or even eating for the first time. there will be tons of hard work and stress involved in making it all work (just like the baby) -- but the joy will come in the little things and you've gotta make the most of that.

13 :D, you're lit late bro. i normally take my kids skating and bowling toward the weekend, but the girls i see w/BF ain't 13 4sure.

what does it mean when the sps polyps at the very tip extends out 1/4" - 1/2" out?

That is very normal Bart. All SPS has long PE at the tip at night

Update:

Just bought another 75lbs of shelve rock from Bulk Reef Supply and some more plumbing for the Tunze Stream.

Greg at Reefgeek confirmed the order for 4 ATI power module 4 bulbs. It should arrive sometime in Aug :D

All Tunze pumps being shipped since Friday

Stand should be done this weekend and start working on the Canopy.

Received my Pint Point pH controller for the Ca reactor and LMIII from Joe (Thanks bro for the freebies)
