Still having fun...300 gallon in wall reef

It's time to replaced the 14" square DIY reflectors. I'm going to make one 18.5" square and two 14.5"x18.5" reflectors from German 95% reflective hammertone polished aluminum.

The PAR on reflectors made from the hammertone is much higher than the same reflector made from flat reflective aluminum. That's why I decided to use this material. I have to make some larger reflectors, so it's worth a try.

Love the thread, getting good info for my build. there is 2 cross braces on this tank correct?
how are ur 250s working for ya?

Yes there are two braces. The 250s are great. The sps all look great, color and growth. I have diy 14" reflectors. I'm currently working on larger reflectors made from hammertone.

Very nice tank. Can I ask where you ordered your blue acrylic sheet from. I am interested in doing the same. It really looks great.

Thanks for the kind words. You can get the blue acrylic at any plastics shop. Mine came from a local shop.

i'm still debating on the starfire front glass. is it worth the extra $200?
Yes. Pictures look much better.

probably already know the answer but have to ask. i currently have two 400watt MHs. i need a third for this tank but only have enough money for a light upgrade or a flow upgrade. both of which r enough to get buy just eventually need to upgrade both.

Anyways, i have a guy who wants to trade my old tank for a 72" fixture with 3-175watt MHs and 4-65watt PCs. Is there anyway this would be sufficiant for this tank? all sps is mid to top but also have a clam and some anemones on bottom. what do u think?

( hope im not stepping on ur thread ) thanx

Not nearly enough light. Sell the old tank or trade it for the light fixture and sell the light fixture. Just a thought.

Just read through the whole thread. All I can say is DANGIT !!!!!!

Simply awsome Mike. I got to get over to your place and to Tom's to get some ideas for my build.
