Still having fun...300 gallon in wall reef

Well, looks like you're up to your eye brows! Great job, so far. You've been doing some very clean work.

I really like your overflow design! You gonna use the whole 1000lbs of sand?

If you don't mind - let me know how you like the AquaSurf. Oh, and tell me as soon as you get your AC-III on line - I'll send you a copy of my little prog. It'll do real-time graphs now.
Thanks Tom. As for the sand, I had 1200 lbs in the 390, about 5-8 inches deep. Depth varied in different areas. I'm going to cut a 2" pvc pipe into 3" lengths and stand them up all over the bottom of the tank and then put 2 layers of eggcrate. The purpose is to keep the rock from sinking to the bottom of the sandbed. I'll add enough sand to cover the pvc/eggcrate structure.
I've read everything that I can find about setting up the Aquasurf for various effects, and I've spoken with Bruce, Chris, and Stephen about how they use their Aquasurf in preparation of programming mine. I "plan" to use 2 to create a small wave and 2 to provide random flow. I'll see how that works out.

Hung some doors today.

Great looking tank can wait to you get it all filled up. I finally got a quote from the local marineland rep and it ended up being quite a bit higher than the glasscages so my 280g is scheduled for delivery Jan 30th.

Good luck with the build and i will be keeping very close attention.

Nice! What are the dimensions of the fish room?
It's almost a fishroom...14'x5'. I still have the RO/DI, mixing barrels, water change system in the garage.

So you'll have the things that take up the most space (other than the tank) in the garage - cool. You'll have enough room left for a wet bar, etc. Seriously, you're doing some major construction there, and a very good job of it!

Thanks Tom. Since the water system in the garage is already plumbed undergound and works very well I decided to keep it that way and save the space for other stuff.

Ted
Thanks Ted. I'm hosting the March TBRC meeting. Come check it out.

John at FAOIS had these sweet internal overflow boxes made for me. The eggcrate is removeable for easy cleaning.

They are blue acrylic. My cheap camera doesn't do color justice.

Those boxes look really practical, Mike - and very well made! How will they be attached to the tank - or did I miss that?

I used the holes in the tank to mark the boxes for holes to be drilled. Bulkheads with the help of a little silicone will hold the boxes to the insides of the tank.
