Stream pump placement TS25 Kit

Hi,

Just received the TS25 kit (2 6100's & multicontroller ect.) My question is proper placement. I have a 240G (6' tank) room divider - so the live rock runs down the center of the tank with fine sand on each side. I was thinking of mounting the pumps about 4" below the surface of the water in each corner along the back corners diagonaly facing the front center galss. Is this correct or should they be facing each other?

Also how sensitive is the photo cell. Does it required total darkness to go into night mode?

The pump may need to be a bit ddeper to avoid vortexing- maybe 6" It sounds correct, the other thing you could try given your rock work is one pump on each side, one in front of the rock and one behind, blowing the length of the tank.

Thanks, I will try that.

One other question, I cant help feeling a little paranoid about pump longevity. When the pump pulses from 30% to 100%, it seems like its instantaneous ramps up to 100% judging by the 'recoil' flex of the bracket. I keep thinking this has got to be hard on the pump and shorten the life.

Is there a recomened 'pulse' setting that will maximize the pumps life? or is there a way to 'slow' the ramp-up accelleration rate. I thought I came across a thread where you recommended 'interval 2' for less stress on the pump as each pump runns 24/7.

We have been making electronic pulsing pumps for over 10 years, I personally own some that are 6 years old, the pumps will see no harm as a result of using them as they were made to be used. Interval 2 is my recommendation not because the pump life is shortened other wise but because they require less cleaning that way.
