Stuck between 2 skimmers...

Stuck between 2 skimmers after a very long time of bouncing back and fourth. Tons of ready, watching videos or anything else informative I could find. All other skimmers I had looked at to buy used ended up falling thru.

Bubble magus curve elite 9 rated 150g heavy bio

Aquaready ConeS Q-2 rated 130g heavy bio

Tank will be 120g, probably atleast 30g in sump/huge. Will be heavy SPS mixed reef with planty of fish.

Had looked at this skimmer also, since BRS recommended it to me, but it just seems cheaply made to me. Maybe I'm being judgmental here.

Simplicity 240DC rated 120g heavy bio

Anyhow, I'm only interested in those at the moment. Take too long of a break and you feel like a noob again.

While I don't have any personal experience with any of these, I really don't think you could go wrong with any of them. I've not heard any negatives of any of them.

I think all skimmers are much the same. What to look at is the pump because that what fail. See if a replacement can be bought easily.
I have always bought AC skimmers because they are cheaper and dont have a controller that can fail.

The BM curve 9 elite comes with a sicce psk 1200, which I think is alittle oversized for my needs, but sicce is pretty bulletproof and 5yr warranty.

The aquaready comes with a modified sicce syncra I believe, they changed out the impeller.

Have 2 aquamaxx HOB 1.5 and they have the same kinda setup. Shark 1.0 modified sicce. Those are bad a** skimmers and have run flawlessly. Others have had problems though, so that makes me wonder about this new aquaready coneS.

I swear being even more indecisive comes with age. I believe they could both possibly be great skimmers. Having both brand before and 0 issues with either makes picking harder. I honestly think I would just pick the BM curve 9 if I was 100% positive that it wouldn't be way too oversized for my tank. Can't find the body/neck size dimensions and pump seems a bit too big.

Looks like Premium Aquatics also has Nyos skimmers on sale.
Nyos is out of my budget. I would need the 220. Sadly, my budget setting this tank up is very tight. I'm lucky I got the wife to even let me start buying everything. I have gotten everything on sale or from locals for extremely good prices.

Reef Octopus. They just work.
Sorry I couldn't help myself.
Yes they do and I have one, but it is too large for my sump space. I had to rebuild my sump to incorporate a refugium and add baffles. I need to snap a newer photo. The sump is almost complete now. I added an adjustable baffle to control water height. Need to I stall some kind of gasket though, as the acrylic pieces aren't tight enough. They slightly leak.

I ended up just buying the BM curve 9 elite. I'm familiar with them and they had worked good for me in the past. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that long term it ends up working out. I do plan to have a pretty heavy bio load later down the line and I feed heavy every at time's.
