Am I a mult???
I wouldn't expect a Social Worker to act so childish.

And I jump in to defend him, sure. To me it just seems like you stalk him and seek to make him feel down, and talk about everything he's doing wrong, rather than what he should do to help the situation. I would expect more coming from a social worker.

:lolspin:

Are you serious? Can I ask what was so "childish" about pointing out the obvious. As for stalking, I can't help that there seems to be a new "fishkid getting a $$$ fish" thread or post on a daily basis. If there is any question as to my experience and knowledge of fishkeeping, look no further than any of my previous posts on this board. I have been here for a while and will be celebrating my 8th year in the hobby. I don't think it is helpful or useful to Fishkid when someone like yourself becomes his personal cheerleader instead of actually providing him with some knowledge and or experience.

Fishkid- I wish you nothing but luck with your new acquisition. I look forward to following its transition to captivity in your tank. I think this fish could go into either tank, but personally I would put him in your mature QT just in case you would have to medicate.

thanks. =]. and i think i'm going to keep it in the reef because the temp and everything is more stable. and it has a lot to pick at on the rocks and i just think it will be more comfortable in there. i can always catch it if anything. it's not tat hard since it's a smaller tank.

My latz are just coming out of QT. So i have no sick fish.

Wait, didn't you just post on 6/25/09 that you though your latz had ich? Ich can lay dormant for 4-6 weeks so until that time is up you will not know for sure. Also, FW dips do nothing for ich. It is howere affective against velvet.

Take it slow with this wonderfull fish.

i put them in a quarantine a few days before and i thought the ich had to attach to a fish within a week after it hatches otherwise they die. and if the eggs are on the fish they are in QT so they won't affect the angel. i was actually planning on keeping the latz in QT until the big tank is up just to be safe.

the ich can attach to the fish, may complete a life cycle, and lay more eggs with out you ever seeing it. The ich will attach to substrate, or may be in the water column, in addition to staying on the fish. To play it safe, I used to wait a month in order for the ich's natural life cycle to safely pass whenever I had any sign of ich in a tank. If you wait a week before putting any fish in a tank, you are definitely risking it imo.

Here is the typical life cycle of ich. No matter if you leave the fish or move them you have to account for the whole life cycle for all aquariums the fish are in or have been in for your treatment or will it come back to bite you.

this fish could be going into anyones tank and people would complain. everyone is just jealous that somone else dropped the dime to buy the fish.

it could be going to the georgia aquarium and people would be complaining.

Wrong.

matt, do what you want. take advice, but pay no mind to people who have a problem with you or what you do. they need to get off their pedestals and offer advice.

if they like it or not, the fish is goign to you. if they care as much as they say they do, they would be more than happy to help and offer advice, after all, theyre experts right?

If you have advice to offer, do it. It is not your place to critique the value of other posts. It would be totally irresponsible for those that care about fish husbandry to ignore what in all probability will be a doomed fish.

I think it is wonderful that people want to help. I think it is also imperative to point out that dwarf angels as a species have a poor survival record, and if the "year and a half" experience as stated is accurate, this is a purchase best discouraged.

Dwarf angels have a poor survival record??? Now there's a broad sweeping blanket statement!

Yes, it is, and was meant to be. The dwarf angels most commonly kept by aquarists (flame, coral beauty) and not-so-often (bi-color) can be very hardy once established, but the "once established" can be problematic. Morgan Lidster of Inland Aquatics noted the poor survival record of these fish in the late 90s and was of the opinion that shipping stress was unusually hard on them.

Plus, as a constant forager of food, the conditions in which they are placed is extremely important for these fish. I don't think "mature reef tank" can be over-emphasized.

Let's get real about the cause of decreased survival in most marine fish that are handled on a mass scale: overcrowded, importer to wholesaler to wholesaler to retailer and they are treated like $10 fish.

The tiger'pyge landed at the importer who held it for nearly a week by itself, fed it well and treated it like a $1000 fish. Then the tigerpyge went to Old Town where it is being held by itself, being well fed, it is being treated like a $1000 and it will be in the shop for several days before shipping out again.

from reading these posts, I would say for the most part RIGHT.

And you would be "wrong". For someone to dismiss the opinions of some very experienced aquarists and fishkeepers as "jealousy" is both arrogant and presumptious.

maybe you should read page 2, there is definitely some posts that are not in any way related to advice from experienced "aquarists"

I have been keeping fish for 20 years, and I would never make some of the truly terrible statements that are being posted in this thread. Experienced, or not.

"Don't Kill it please"

"what the hell"

"oh man you're gone"

These are not advice statements. Did you even read through the entire thread?

Yes. I also have about 10 years experience in this forum, and I share the frustration of those who see posters who seem to purchase an endless variety of delicate fish. Those who see this pattern repeated over and over may be jaded, but not jealous.
