AEFW update #6

We had another successful dip last weekend along with a large water change. No AEFW were found, but there may have been a few eggs, it's somewhat hard to tell. Suspected frags were discarded.

All fish are thriving, not having lost any in several weeks. No signs of ick either. Overall tank looks good with good coloration of corals and some noticeable growth.

I am struggling with LPS, primarily chalices, but all SPS and other corals appear to be doing great.

I am due for another water change and dip, likely tomorrow. I will try and post some photos as it's been a while since we've had a nice update.

Nice!!!

I want to see these pics.

Hey... I posted a new FTS, didn't know if you had a chance to see it or not.

Congrats on winning the battle. Question, what are you using to find or detect egg on the colony or frag? Do you use the jewelers glasses?

Last AEFW update.

We did a final dip today. No eggs or flat worms were found. A few small frags were discarded as they seemed too far gone to recover. The remainder were glued back on to the rock work and the rack has been retired!

Also received my replacement DC10500 from Reef Octopus and it was installed today as well. Haven't lost any more fish and the tank seems relatively stable.

On to some pics.

Hopefully things will remain stable and we can finally get to enjoying the tank.

Thanks Leroy!

My wife had LASIK surgery a few months ago. Her eyesight is now 20/20. We have been using a mag LED flashlight to illuminate the frags and her super-power vision.

Haven't been online too much. Started a new job and things have been crazy. Will definitely check out your thread later!

Your own super woman AEFW finder/detector.

I hope you give your wife a bit of warning before you grab her by the heels and dunk her head into the tank. :O

Good... glad to hear about the job. That is more important than us poking you and prodding you. HAHAHA

Tank looking good. Corals look happy too.

I tried that day one, but she was not pleased! So we transitioned to taking the corals out to make it a bit easier on her. Lol

Thanks. It's a great opportunity, but I've been putting in 12 hours a day since. Looking forward to normalizing a bit.

Thanks! I tested Alk and it was down to 7!!! Been slowly raising it with 2-part. Should be at 10 by tonight. I'm surprised how well everything was doing with the Alk so low.

It's been a while since my last update. I took on a new position at work and just haven't had the time to update the thread. Overall the tank has been doing well. Since the six-week course of treatment for the AEFW I've seen no signs of flat worms in the tank.

I've lost a few LPS but don't understand why. The SPS all seem to be doing well and have colored up and are growing. I haven't really lost any fish and have seen no signs of ich or any other disease.

I am currently struggling with my ATO as the Tunze is failing regularly and must be switched off and on in order to work. I plan on purchasing a new ATO and am considering options.

Here are a few quick pics I just snapped.

I know your tank doesn't look this blue in person. Are you taking all these pict with a cell or a regular camera? If it is the later, you should white balance it before so everything doesn't look blue. If it is with a cell, then I don't know how. Good luck!

The pics are all being taken with the iPhone 5s. They aren't very good, but I don't have the knowledge to easily photograph with a camera, upload, link, etc... The iPhone and tapatalk is so much easier.

Maybe I'll take some good pics in the next few weeks and try to get them uploaded.

Congrats on the new job position. Tank seems to be doing well and fish are looking healthy in the pics.

Thanks! I'm happy that the tank has settled in spite of my lack of attention to it.

Still looks good despite your lack of free time.

I went for almost a week without seeing the tank with the lights on! That's what 13-hour days will do for you. Lol

Oh boy, 13 hour days. I think you need to take more pictures for yourself.
I'm not far behind you though.
Lol

It's been a rough week. On Monday the Tunze osmolater died and is out of warranty. Working on buying a litermeter from a friend.

Yesterday I turn off the replacement reef octopus Diablo DC-10500 to do a water change, when I turn it back on it won't power up. Sent RO an email. This will be my third one this year.

Fortunately I was part of a Jebao group buy and the new pump is here, I should have it by Monday.

Really struggling to stay committed to the hobby right now.

When it rains it pours, just hang in there and the clouds will part soon enough. We all get hit with a tidal wave of issues and it seems like you don't get a chance to recover from one before the next is here.
