It looks like our new tank will be 72X30X24. It seems by specs I can go with 6000s or 6100s. I was leaning towards 4 6000s so that I can aim them in 4 directions instead of say 2 6100s. This will be a primarily LPS tank, with some SPS, clams, and softies. We do not believe that we will have a closed loop, but will have at least a 10X turnover coming out of the sump. Any other opinions on the streams? Can you mix 6000s and 6100s on the multi controller?

Thanks

You can mix them, I highly recommend starting with 2 6000 only as likely you won't need more for those inhabitants.

I was going to have them all in the deco rocks built into my rockwork. If I don't put them all in at first I am in for a difficult upgrade. Really think 3 or 4 would be too many? My girlfriend has 1 6000 in her 70g. She loves it for having kept the back of her tank spotless, but she sort of wishes she had a second one on the opposite side of the tank aiming a little towards the front as she has much less flow there. Now, if I set up just two at the start I can aim them in a similar fashion, but I asked you dome time back and you said the water pushed goes to 4 feet. In a 7 foot tank, don't I need 2 on either end? I can set it so only 2 are on at any given time with the multicontroller correct? Can I have only 1 at a time?

You can have more but keep in mind they have to be cleaned quite frequently so hiding them so thoroughly is a bad idea. It really depends on inhabitants, positioning and layout, I think it is best to only buy what you need so start with a couple and see what you think, but yes you could have more and you can run just one or two at a time.
