Tanks based on Aquaforest products

I'm from Australia and we have only just this week have had your products land here and I'm very interested in inplementing your products on my already established tank.
I have a few questions, what would be the best products to begin implementing?
I am interested in switching to your Reef salt and using the kh buffer, calcium, magnesium and minerals sales along with components strong for dosing.
If I was to start a new tank or completely switch to all aquaforest products do you have a tank philosophy/ method that you recommend in regards to filtration, maintenance, dosing ect? any more info would be appreciated as if the pictures of tanks that implement your products are anything to go by then I am very excited to see what success I can have.

Hello,
Sounds like a great plan to me, have you had a chance to review the product guide(pdf)? I will attach a link :) When reading on the system, you will want to query on the Probiotic Program for a sps type tank. The basis of this system is to use Probiotic Reef Salt, Pro Bio S(bac source) and NP Pro(carbon source). This helps the tank to run low nutrients, so that the corals and fish can have optimal health. For advanced coloration of corals, you can use AF Energy, AF Build, AF Vitality, AF Aminomix, and AF Power Food. These supplements help the corals to have these vibrant colors you see. As far as trace minerals go, you would encompass that through the use of the Macro and Micro minerals and dose at equal ratios.
If your tank has a higher bioload, you can also use siporax to create more surface area for bacteria to grow. Additionally, you may want to use Zeomix too. Most users are having great success using what is referred to as the stacking method. One single fluidized reactor, with Zeomix on the bottom, AF Carbon stacked on top of the Zeomix, and finally AF Phos Minus on top of the AF Carbon. This helps the system to run very low in nutrients, in cases where the bioload is higher than normal, or the tank is run with little live rock or no sand, as they are also beneficial for denitrifying bacteria to grow. Cheers :)

thanks for the tips I might start off with the macro and micro elements and then possibly strary the pro biotic system further down the track and possibly the other additives. my system isnt sps heavy and I find it hard to get some of the real high end colorful sps and mine are your more basic colors so for the moment id be happy for the corals to get a good quality salt mix with all micro and macro elements along with good supplementary dosing.
I think the more complex dosing ect would be good for when this or my possible future tank is more sps heavy.
out of curiosity what exactly is the reef mineral salts that is incorporated into the macro element regime. currently I only dose alk cal and mag so what is the mineral salts and how do you dose/test for them to determine how much needs to be dosed? is it based off the cal/mag uptake?

What about Coral Food. Seem like not mentioned much.

I use AF Power Food, I often forget to mention it because I use if sparingly. I feed my tank very heavy with fish food, so to me I find it not necessary :) For tanks with lower bioloads it works very well to supplement the corals. Cheers

Reef Mineral Salt is merely a buffer to help maintain linear Ionic uptake. With the Component 123 or ABC system, it is to be dosed at equal levels to that of which alk, and CA are dosed. Cheers.

I have been reading this and other threads on Aquaforest products. I have to say that I've been in and out of the hobby for the last 15 years and I have to admit that seeing all these tanks from around the world with so much success has been an inspiration for sure!

I'm in the process of or in the mode of acquiring corals to fill a very empty 180 gallon reef. I will for sure acquire the AF product line!

One question:
I use a combo of 3- 250 wt metal halides and blue LED's. The tank will be a mostly sps heavy tank. With this type of lighting should the recommended products be different than what is in your guide?

Many thanks and cheers to ya!
