Great tank!

Any chance you could shoot some more pics of your lighting and give a quick run down of what you have in total, % power, and time schedule. I'm sure plenty of folks would love to know your tricks ;)

Did you do a major clean out recently?

Great Observation!

Thanks for posting the progression shots. As time goes on I am improving my cam skills. I think I almost have the WB but my yellows are still coming out a little orange under the intense LED Blue.

In regards to the stock. I guess my number was up it after rapid growth for the first year I had a mini-crash over the summer and for some unknown reason all of my acros, birdsnest and stylos started to STN from the base up. I lost a lot and set up an emergency system in the basement for frag clippings. In all I lost about 10 lbs of coral I think the bag weighed.

During this time the Digis and Montis took off and tripled in size. Not sure of peter was robbing paul but I ended up getting rid as many digis that I could. The most recent picture is with the back up frags transplanted to the system. I am getting great growth check out the front of the big slimmer on the top left but still am seeing some sporadic signs of STN. I am going to send my water out to a Lab and get a scientific profile.

This is a wonderful tank. I can only hope mine grows up to be half as nice as yours. Quick question is it ok if I can use one of your pictures for the background on my computer at work. Some of them are works of art.

Thanks LOL sure. There was a local guy back in the day that I had his SPS tank on my backdrop. Once I post the pics they belong to the world! The last one is out of focus and I am still working on getting the White Balance down with LEDS.

Beautiful picture

Thanks!

Spectacular color you have going on there.

Thanks! again

phenomenal color!

Nice color rainbow of your tank...
What do you dose?

Lots of hard work. But honestly heavy import and export. I don't add any supplements anymore other than Kalk.

I don't think I've seen nothing but incredible pictures from this tank. Can't wait until it is TOTM.

I have been approached by 5 websites and 2 magazines for TOTM or TOTY but In my eyes it is not worthy yet. When the corals are touching the front glass and when I am confident that it is bullet proof Ill run one but with this set up I am traveling the road less traveled and it would be a shame of I do a TOTM and something that I am doing ends up impacting the masses. It always has been a dream but I think Ill wait until it is perfect!

Yes sure, I though I has some pictures and even a video of the LED layout and how I mounted them etc. Ill see if I can dig it up.

Love this tank:)

Thanks!

Beautiful tank! I see that you were using biopellets for awhile. Can I ask what you kept your Ca, DKH, MG, Nitrate and Phos at during that period?

What are your params now that you are off biopellets? Are you using anything for export other than two skimmers? GFO?

Before:
CA 420 -440
DKH 7.5-8.5
MG 1300 - 1350
Nitrate were a solid 0.00
Phos always .00-.03

Now:
CA 420 -440
DKH 7.5-8.5
MG 1300 - 1350
Nitrate were a solid .02 - 0.05
Phos always .03-.07

I ended up removing the 2nd skimmer as it was skimming very light and the SRO decreased skim-mate so concluded everything being equal that wheater running both skimmers or a single skimmer the same amount of skim-mate will be removed.

Removing bio-pellets has been great for color and dark rich corals but the growth has slowed significantly. Im thinking about hooking it back up with a small amount of bio-pellets and very minimal flow to get the growth back into gear.

I have been running GFO throughout and down two 2 cups. I am removing all of my big fish and going back t rinsing food so hopefully I can remove the GFO as I notice STN when I change it.
