I'm realyl frustrated about getting my teardrop now.... Anthony has been holding it for me for a while now and If I back off then I'd ruin a good relationship with such a great dealer....:(

If you don't want to buy it, you could offer to pay Anthony a portion of the amount, as credit towards a future purchase. Sort of a "goodwill" for holding it for you. You should only get one of these if you feel confident about it, or wait till you see one in an LFS that's doing well.

Naw, I can't do this to Anthony, I'm gonna buy it, it's a hell of a clam and he's been updating me and holding it...

So I'll post how the clams doing..

Thanks

Some times you just gotta say........

PM me if you don't take the leap, I'll make room here ;)

Maximas just don't seem to be very hearty these days...From what I have seen/heard, the teardrops are even less able to adapt. About a year and a half ago there was a bunch of teardrops coming in and they all crashed. Could be the collecting (damaged feet) but it seems odd that ALL would die off. Some of these clams came in perfect! Attached to rocks too. I will definitely tag along this thread. I am glad to see Barry (clamsdirect) is dipping his feet in the water cuz these clams are sweet! Can't wait till we start getting the blue teardrops in!

Good luck with C-2. He was the best I have seen in the last few months and remember, I bought 2 two weeks ago.

Good news is: both are still with me and one looks like a sure thing. The other looked like a goner last week, but a temp drop, lighting reduction, and heavy feeding later and it looks like he is getting better this week. It actually attached to some rubble and the other teardrop last night (removed), so we shall see.

If you can get a current picture of C-2 and it looks the same or better, I would go for it without hesitation.

AgentSPS,

Every one my new maximas has given me headaches lately, lost 2 out of 6. Likely have another going south. Crocea, derasa, and hippopus have not been any trouble in the same exact system.

This latest batch of teardrops I put into a standalone tank that has never had clams. Still workin' them hard but they seem to be doing better with only clams from their system. We shall see.

The fact that it is perdominantly maximas which are having problems suggest there IS still something terribly bad happening. I remember years ago when the whole SPS thing was still in the infancy stages (some may say it still is) there were no statistically significant problems with maximas. They were hearty. I remember looking at totally polluted tanks with dead SPS all over and the clams were still doing great. Its so frustrating...$200 is a big chance and I intend to follow these clams closely. We should ALL be starting logs when we buy clams.

Traveller, I asked for updated pics, here are as of like an hour ago.. Looks healthy to me! Still attached to rubble.

Lebowski- That looks great.

You nee to buy that hing or tell anthony to sell it to someone else. He cant hold it forever!

Good luck,

John :)
