Terry's 180 Peninsula Reef build.

It's actually more green than blue Gary. I've heard it described as an "Olive stag" but I don't have a scientific name.

the dog very reluctantly uses the bed. Two pugs, they are much happier on the couch.

Man... you are a tinker! I been always impress with your build. Everything looks so clean. It's going to be an amazing reef!

Thanks guys!

My next plan is to incorporate a small rimless tank in the window on the wall perpendicular to the tank and have mangroves growing, tied into the main system.

I have the mangroves marinating in the Fuge now. The first step will be to replace that old TV Stand with something elselse, get a small rimless frag tank, and plumb it it.

And... the tinkering continues.

You may have noticed in previous pictures, that we had yet to decide on a color for the island in the kitchen, hence the stripes of color.

Well, we finally decided on a color. After painting the island, I decided to paint the inside of the stand the same color:

I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Amazing setup. Did you see any difference running the socks before water enters your fuge than after(where they were in your sump). I know some people like to run them in different places depending on what they are wanting their fuge to accomplish. Did you do any type of structural reinforcement to the floor?

Hey, sorry I didn't see the replies. Let me take them in order...

No HGTV for me. You should see the stuff my sisters makes though. Search for Urban Lumber Jax on Facebook. She is amazing...

I put the sock before the fuge to try to reduce some of the detritus that settles there. There is still a lot of it. I was afraid if I put the socks after the fuge, it would limit the # of critters making their way up to the display, which I want. I've even toyed with the idea of switching the fuge compartment with the skimmer compartment...

I was running a Vectra, but I didn't need a silent return pump when the sump moved downstairs, so I went with the cheaper option (which has worked perfectly for almost a year). I was able to spend that $ elsewhere. There are currently no supports under the floor. But the tank sits in a spot where there is about 10 feet between two I-beams. We are finishing half of the basement, and I will add support when we build some walls.

Update time!

The tank is doing well. I had an AEFW issue I had to deal with, by pulling all of the SPS and QT-ing and dipping in Bayer every 5th day. It seems to have worked. All of the corals are back in the tank and things are recovering nicely. I lost a few pieces, but mostly things were fine. Color seemed to bounce back in things like the slimer pretty quickly.

Aside from that, I have just been keeping up maintenance, adding a few fish and corals, and really enjoying the tank;

I absolutely love having the sump in the basement. I've been running this tank on a Jebao DCS9000 for almost a year with no issues. I take the pump apart once every few months and clean it. We are in talks with a contractor about finishing the basement, which will make the fish area a separate room, which I think will be good. I added a vent fan over the sump that vents outside and put in on a timer so it runs every 4 hours, for 4 hours. The basement is noticeably less humid.

I completely stopped using GFO a few months ago and the Fuge has taken off. Phosphate sits around .02-.06 on a Hanna ULR checker

Very nice, Terry. Thank you for keeping us updated, tank is looking good.

I see eight dosing channels. I don't remember your dosing regime. Can you tell us what you test and what you dose? What are your target levels?

Thank you!

The doser on the right is for Calcium, Alk, NOPOX and Kalk. I use the Kalk via doser as opposed to dosing via ATO, because I don't want doing to dependent on evap.

The doser on the left is for Red Sea Coral Colors. I dose 5 mls of each.

My levels are consistent at:

Alk-7.8-8.4 (Hanna)
Cal- 420 (Red Sea)
Mag- 1400 (Red Sea)
NO3- 1 (Red Sea)
PO4- .02-.06 (Hanna ULR Phosphorus checker)

I have the coral colors test kit, but don't use it often, because the tests are a pain.

Do you use Red Sea color program ratio calculations determine by the demand for calcium? Or how do you determine dosing 5ml of each ?

So, quick update on the tank...

Things are looking great. After treating for AEFW with Bayer, everything has colored back up, and looks better than it has in months. All of the SPS has great PE and the tank is looking great:

Thanks!

I shoot for a dKH of 8. It has been a bit low (7.4-7.6) recently. I think due to growth of SPS. I am supplementing BRS two-part with kalk via dosing pump. I don't like using kalk via top off, because it's too dependent on evaporation.

I have upped the dose considerably, but have yet to see a big rise in dKH. I test daily with Hanna
