Terry's 180 Peninsula Reef build.

Terry could you post a link to the light you got for your refugium? I have the little Home Depot clip on light and am thinking of upgrading.

Great setup. I think my next one will have to be a peninsula setup like this one.

I've been following along and noticed that you snuck a UV filter into the mix. How frequently do you run it?

What mode are you running that light on? Are you running 24/7, or nights?

I haven't run a fuge in a long time, considering trying one again.
Anecdotally, I tried running one just at night, and 24/7, didn't really notice much of a difference. Any thoughts on the matter?

Terry, shortly after I asked about your fuge light I picked up the same thing and I have to admit, the results are pretty drastic!

I run the UV 24/7

I run the Fuge light at night, macro algae is growing like crazy.

One major change took place last week...

I was working on the light the other day, and the cable pulled out of the ceiling (not the anchor, but where the anchor meets the cable) and the light fell in the water, frying one of the T5 ballasts. So I replaced both T5 ballasts with ATI ballasts. What a drastic difference. The light is noticeably brighter.

Glad it ended up working out but... :eek2:

So I'm running a 93 cube. stand is short . Do u think the led would be ok ? Can't really tell how big the light is. I'VE wanted to slap something over my sump.

Cool vid!

Interesting what you say about the montipora capricornis being sensitive. I've subscribed to that theory for years. It's considered an "easy" SPS, but I always found them to be the horn blowers to something in the tank being off. pH, SG, Alk....

I'd be interested in seeing what you do with your T5 combo. I'm running 3 ATI Blue+ and a purple +. Was thinking of swapping one ATI for a coral plus.

I'm not familiar with Kessils, I've been running Radions. What percentage or level of intensity do you run them at? Are the adjustable?

Thanks Terry!

Yes, they are adjustable. But unlike Radions, with the various channels, Kessils have 2, color and intensity. I have them maxing out at 80%, I just turned them down a bit, with the increase in T5 intensity

I have to agree my capricornis are the same way. That being said, they always seem to bounce back when things are adjusted to where they need to be.

Yeah, the caps are all slowly bouncing back. New growth on all of them.

Couple of other updates...

I shot a walk through of my fish room:

The only thing I forgot to mention was the manifold that feeds the reactors and UV.

I also purchased a Nest Cam for the basement. It is one thing to see the temp and PH on Apex Fusion, it is another to be able to see the sump level, and skimmer cup if we go away:

Terry:

how's that overflow working out for you... anything you might change or do differently?

I saw pix of somebody local on fb making a tubular steel stand.
Same guy that did yours?

Overflow is fantastic. And no, there is nothing that I would change. It works flawlessly. One issue with a Bean Animal system with a basement sump, is balancing the gate valve with the return flow. I will occasionally have to run up and down stairs to get the level in the external box correct via the gate valve. But once set, it is silent.

My cousin built my stand for me. He is a steel worker by trade. I don't think he has made any other stands for anyone local, but he has expressed an interest in it.

Updates!

I have been planning a remote mangrove tank in the living room. I have drilled a 25 gallon cube for an Eshoppes Eclipse overflow and built a 16" stand for it:
