Terry's 180 Peninsula Reef build.

System looks incredible. Also disconcerting with regard to your mental health, but I digress....

Can you give me a run down of what you currently regularly check, and the results of those parameters.

I am seriously struggling with SPS coloration under LEDs. Doesn't seem to be a problem for you. Growth isn't a huge issue. Most are doing well. Colors are pastel at best.

Thanks!

Radions? If so, it's got to be a chemistry issue, as people are having success with them.

I test Alk daily, sits between 8.6-9.2, usually in the high 8's hasn't moved in months. I dose an epic crap-ton of kalwasser daily (like 2,000 mls over 20 doses), and the PH sits right around 8, refugium light and frag tank light are on at night, to help with the PH swing. And all Kalk dosing takes place between 11pm and 6 am

I test PO4 a few times a week. I have the Hanna ULR checker, but I am not sure I trust it. I get too many results of 0. I just tested this am, and was at .04, which I am happy with. I cut back the NOPOX dose to try to help deal with a cyano outbreak.

I test Cal, Mag and NO3 like once every few weeks. They never change much. Cal 420, Mag 1300, No3 <5.

I have a lot of light. 4x 80W T5 that run from 10-6. 3x Kessil A360W-es that run from 7-10, peaking at 85%, and a 72" Reefbrite strip.

I'm with you on the Hanna. I'm convinced it's a phosphate issue. Either too low or way too high. My checker always registers zero. We have similar parameters. I also dose kalk. Average pH currently 8.14 per Apex. My Radions are at 40%. Running 4 T5s as well. 3 ATI Blue+ and a Geissman Purple plus. Running the Coral lab program in the Radions.

Was trying to "stay the course" hoping things would start to turn around. Each month (tank about 6mos in) brings more of the same.

Looks great under actinic lighting, but at peak times, looks like a muted mess.

Sorry to hijack. Appreciate the input. Agree, nutrients are the culprit. But how....why...

Time for a jar of water to go to the LFS.

Your set up is amazing. Well done sir.

Should we establish a safe word if you feel you're in too deep and need saving from yourself?

Ha! This is what happens when you wife travels for work. I have too much free time on my hands, which leads to too much tinkering.

I wonder if your Nitrate is too low?

Turn your skimmer off(or down if you can), pull gfo and carbon. Do large water changes. IMO that's the correction course for almost any issue but paticularly for young tanks.

Some big updates this month:

Terru I noticed the picture you posted today in another thread you had a flame angel in your main display? Any issues with your corals that you noticed? Nipping?

Quick update:

Its been a quiet summer on the tank front. I haven't added anything and have just been maintaining the tank. I have kept up with my maintenance schedule, etc. I changed 20 gallons of water and vacuumed the sand bed this morning.

I dealt with a bit of a cyano outbreak near the beginning of the summer. I used red slime remover to great success. I treated the tank 3 times over 6 days, and have completely removed the cyano with zero negative consequences to the fish or corals.
