the 1700g stingray reef

Sad to see it go, but i knew something was up when the skimmer got sold.
its a nice new setup though. (he did mention that he didnt want to alter the tank so if he does miss saltwater, he can come back with no problems. )

in his new thread. (the link is above)
he said that he sold his live stock localy and most to different LFS.
his didnt crash, being in heavy equipment/construction. i think his time got less and less. he said he went back to his roots. (i guess he had some exotic stuff back in the day.) i will say that every thing he does, is to its best ability. he didnt skimp or cut corners.

Wow, I just found this thread and Energy is gone! I read the entire thread in 2 days and it is great inspiration for any reefer. The saltwater community really lost a valuable member. I started to read his Large Vivarium but I quickly stopped because I cannot set up any more aquariums in my house! His new plans sound really cool and I would love to see pics when it is finished.

If Energy or anyone else knows I have just 2 questions:
1.) How did the phos reactor work out, and was it worth the extra design (similar to a calc reactor). I didn't see any direct pics of it (only in the background), and he never discussed if the design was worth it over a conventional reactor.

2.) Did his rays blow lots of sand into the overflow. I have a california ray in my 280 and he is constantly blowing sand into my overflow. My filter socks collect all of this, but my tank is only 24". My next tank will be 30" at least and I'm thinking about going with something even up to 40" tall.

It's funny, the site he's on now is like a bizzarro reef central. FTS requests, subsrate debates, compatability issues.

Being a bit of a herp/amph geek, I love what he's doing with the tank now.

+1, That is exactly what I thought! And that is also why I will not read that forum. I don't want to get lured into another costly hobby.

every hobby can be as expensive as you want it to be, but i will say this, Dart frogs are not as expensive as some corals.

While I am sorry to see Energy go away from reefing, that is the most amazing frog tank I have ever seen! :D

Very cool!
