The angel thread to end all angel threads: all owners of angelfish in reefs respond!!

I have a Rusty Angelfish and she is AWESOME! I have not had any problems with her and I heard that my open brain coral is her fav snack but so far so good... I keep algae strips in the tank at all times and feed meaty foods every other day, she is a plump and seemingly happy little fish! :) I recommend them just for their cleaning abilities, she has been great help to my CUC. I have had her for 4 mths and was one of my first fishes lol... I keep her in a 55 gal mixed reef tank.

I posted a few months back about my Majestic with "angel-like" behavior and not nipping on anything. He is now nipping my cup coral that has now refused to open anymore. :(
Its been with me since March.

He stopped. Coral is fine. I guess he didnt like the taste.

That being said. I tested him a few weeks ago with some Zoos I picked up at WWC (watermelon something or the other)....GONE in 48 hours, not a trace left.

BTW- Lobster. Thanks for this. Its awesome!!

My Lamarck has not bothered any SPS. I have a big goniopora and small acanthastreas also and the angel has not bothered them as well.

Cherub Angel in 90 reef perfect fish. Picks algae all day...

Blue ring in 180 reef. He changed it into FOWLER in less than 1 month with the exception of SPS. He looks great under Metal Halide. I knew better but loved the fish so much could not pass...live and learn.

The sheet is fantastic. Are you going to continue to update data? There has to be more Angel keepers out there.

Also have info on Lamarks. Friend has Lamarks in 220 reef and never touches corals. Very nice fish.

I have a juvinile Emperator, probally about 6 months now,
He will nip at my kenya trees and my green polyps. It does not seem to effect the Kenya trees and who would care if it did. lol But I did have awsome green polyps and he has just ruined them. I have a ton of lps in my tank and those are the only two he will touch.

I have had a Juvenile Koran Angel 3" for 5 months. Never has picked at anything.

I feed frozen heavy once a day and also put a full sheet of Nori every day as its gone by night between him and the foxface.

Very Mixed Reef

Thanks for bumping, as I did not see the original thread. Love that table!

Don't know if he is still putting in new data, though. But, I do have a coral beauty, eats algae, leaves my SPS, LPS, Clams alone

Bellus angel

Mixed reef.

Hasn't touched a coral yet however I think she is eating all my copepods!

Sent from my droooid using tapatalk.

I have a swallowtail angel and he hasn't touched any of my corals or inverts as of yet. I've had him for 3 months now.

Juvenile Emporer Angel
In tank for 24-hours
He has nipped at every one of my LPS, my clam, and I think I saw him clip a piece of SPS

I'm trying to turn my head for now, but it may be short lived. I'll bump up his feeding schedule in hopes he quits. Not sure how likely they are to stop once they've started though. The jury is still out...

Bicolor Dwarf in a Softie tank

Nips at Kenya trees, but no harm comes from it. Leaves everything else alone. Gets along well with Ocelaris Clowns, and Mandarin. Harasses the Pajama Cardinal.

Bump- I would love to hear about lemonpeels and false lemonpeels. Can anybody offer more experience with those? Would be fantastic!

[welcome]

Do you mean Centropyge heraldi -- for the false?

IME lemonpeels are 2nd worse as far as being reef safe (( Bi-colors being #1 )).

It was a long time ago, but I do recall not having any issues with the one heraldi that I had.

Rusty angel == no problem, fed 1 per day at most for 3+ years
Singapore angel== no problem for 3 years, then attacked relentlessly brain I had for 5+ years, moved brain an it recovered. Then started picking on sps. Moved angel.

Thanks for the welcome full of flair!

I did mean heraldi- I was thinking of that as an alternate choice if it was more reef safe. How long did you have your heraldi?

I am in the final stages of getting everything prepped before adding water and finalizing my stock list and order of additions. I love the lemonpeel. I had the distinct pleasure of snorkeling with one last year and he was such a character and was not shy at all. I thought it would be very cool to have a reminder of that trip in my living room.

In your exprience, do you think it would affect behavior if the fish was added before any coral was in the tank and it was on a feeding schedule?
