The angel thread to end all angel threads: all owners of angelfish in reefs respond!!

Coral Beauty
Doesn't bother any of my corals( mushrooms, zoas, frogspawn)
Slightly agressive towards newcomers, but always gets over it within a few days.

Coral Beauty-6yrs never bothered a thing,
Flame Angel-6 months has not bothered a thing.
Both fish lived/live in mix reef with sps, lps, zoas, clams.

Pygmy Angel 8 months. I believe he ate approximately 200 zoa polyps at the beginning. Although I only saw him do it once, I'm sure he did it while I was away from the tank. Ever since that 1st month, he hasn't touched any corals in my mixed reef.

Genicanthus semifasciatus:

Have not nipped any SPS or LPS corals as of yet but were only introduced to the DT less than a week ago.

They WILL eat just about everything else: PE Mysis, Hakiri Mysis, Spectrum pellets, fish eggs, Ocean Nutrition's Formula One and Two, Enriched Brine Shrimp, Angelfish Formula.

1. What kind of angel Centropyge argi pair
2. Whether it was reef-safe female ate acros and gorgonians

1. What kind of angel Genicanthus melanospilos pair
2. Whether it was reef-safe 100%

Had a flame angel and a coral beauty in a 450 gallon mixed reef tank for many years with no problems. Not sure if I was lucky or if keeping them well fed helped keep them in check.

OK, a update on my system.

Added in a pair of Lemon Peel Angles. I beleive they ate my few Zoa frags I was trying to grow when I first put them in. I haven't tried replacing the Zoa's yet. Other than that, they haven't bothered any other corals.

Flame Angel Nips at SPS
Scribbled angels (3) 2 nip at clams, and Zoas
African halfback Nips at sps
Blue Girdled Nipped at Acans and clams
Regal would nip at clam

This is a great idea.

Had a Flame angel that minimally picked at a frogspawn, nothing serious.

Note: no SPS or clams in the tank; I did have zoas it didn't touch.

Several angels in predom sps tank with some lps.
Conspic angel. Ok with sps. Bites of elegence but ok with lobo and clams for most part
Majestic. Ok with sps. Really bad with acans but fine with blasto and lobo
Regal. Is always first on scene to any sps that starts to stn from base but is fine with sps alive. Acans forget it. Elegence fine and lobo ok.
Juvenile emperor. Acans bad. All else is ok.
Juv scribbled. Reasonably well behaved accross board.

1. What kind of angel - West Australian Scribbled Angel
2. Whether it was reef-safe - Not reef safe
3. If it was not reef-safe, what did it eat? Nips at SPS, all LPS, zoas, softies, and snail/crab shells

I've had this dream fish (to me) for 2 weeks now. It is fat and healthy, but has nipped at everything in my tank except my anemone. It tore up all meaty LPS and has ripped apart colonies of zoas. It loves my millepora's as well as any other SPS that has good polyp extension. I thought my devils hand softie was safe, but finally saw it nip at it last night. I was hoping for a different outcome, but knew what the possibilities were with this fish. What to do what to do...

Coral Beauty - never bothered a thing
Flame #1 - never bothered a thing
Flame #2 - good but picked at my 20" LTA until it was eaten
Rusty - never bothered coral but became a bully to any fish smaller than it was
Queen - great until it hit 8-9" then was a terror to all fish and coral
Emperor - never bothers anything, even though large
Blue Face - couldn't keep a button polyp in the tank...other than that, was great

Coral Beauty, owned 7 months.
Hasn't touched or shown interest in any of my coral. I have mostly LPS & softies.

Had another coral beauty for less than a week, I saw it nip at the zoas & frogspawn but it didn't do any visible damage.

No idea scribbled origin. He or she is baby. Very small
I will say m regal has now got to my scollys and have seen consoic start to nip at clams.

Mixed reef, sps, lps, zoas, softies

In the past couple years:

3 flame angels. ALL nipped at SPS, nothing else
Cherub angel - nips at nothing

Golden Angel-leaves mushroom, colt corals and eagle eye colony polyp alone. ate my frogspawn in one day,:uzi:

Multicolor Angel- leaves frogspawn, mushrooms, acan lord, leather tree alone.

Blueface Angel- leaves leather polyp, eagle eye colony polyp and blue ridge coral alone.

Flame Angel
Appeared to be a good inhabitant but upon careful observation, was picking at nearly all acros whenever there was polyp extension. It's taken several months but PE has recovered after its removal
