The Life Reef Skimmer Club

Got my "fresh air" air line hooked up yesterday afternoon!
Ran it straight up the wall, through the sheetrock and ceiling joist into my attic and secured to one of the AC ducts that happened to be right there. So i'm pulling air from the middle of my attic. :D
I'm already seeing a bump in my tank pH of around .1

D2mini, your only about 8 hrs from me, impressive setup on tank. Jeff sent me an e-mail asking me if I still wanted mine built, 2nd to last build in July, cant wait to get this tank up and running, along with Jeff's Skimmer

One thing I love about this skimmer over others I have owned, besides the GREAT performance, it is very stable. I have set it and I have literally forgot it. It never overflows or goes crazy. Does not drop the foam head with hands or food etc in the tank.......this WILL be the last skimmer I ever buy.

Thanks Jeff!

Hey can anyone tell me what the stock venturi is on the 24" models? I just picked up a used svs2-24 but it is missing the venturi so I have to buy one. I'd upgrade to the mazzei but I won't have the room for it under my tank. I'd apreciate the help, thanks.

It's a 1" PVC hot tub/spa venturi. Nothing fancy but it does the job. Give Jeff at Lifereef a call, he can hook you up. I bought a backup for my 30", I think it was less than $25 shipped.

Hey I have the vs 24 and I added more water than usual to my sump. Maybe an extra 3 inches of water. The skimmer fills up

Yeah, the water height in the body will change.
You need to keep your water level constant like with other skimmers.
But unlike other skimmers, this skimmer will work with all kinds of sump levels... as long as it stay constant.

Ah, I see ok. I only run it this high when I go on trips. I'm leaving for a week so I increased sump level to reduce the limitations of my ato box.

I just bought a new lifereef 36" tonight after my MRC skimmer cracked and started leaking. Great timing. I'm on day 3 of the cycle. Talked to Jeff at lifereef for quite awhile tonight. He is shipping tomorrow!

Glad to finally be able to post here

You will be happy, I have used MRC's for years and have to say , the life-reef 36 is much nicer. MRC's made too much noise They are great but not as great as Jeff's. I always wanted a Life reef and finally got one and glad I did.JMO

The MRC was really loud and the Beckett fouled a lot. I've been talking with Jeff on and off for a year now. I'm glad that the skimmer went when it did so I didn't have a tank full of fish and sps to fret about. Everything I've read is positive about Jeff and lifereef. I'm anxious to get it plumbed in and get this tank full of life!

I hope next week I will be apart of the Life Reef club, a complete system Sump/Refugium/ATO container/Media Canisters/Skimmer will all be from Jeff, the skimmer will be the the 24, sump will be a LF1 200S, Refugium will be the 20"
