THE Tank Build By Aqua Digital

We will see, I hope so.

Amazing product so easy to use, and all reports from users and really positive. We are looking forward to seeing ProdiBio in action and will do a full report.

pH - 8.08
Salinity - 51.8mS and rising
Redox - 177mV (target = 300mV)
Temp - 28 degrees C

Rest not worth measuring yet, let the tank settle a bit ;)

Other updates.

The return pump will be switched to a Tunze I am not happy with the flow rate i am getting with the aqua bee, the Tunze also has flow control so if i do over shoot the mark it can be throttled back.

The tank got its first dose of Ultra Bio and Ultra Bak this evening to help with cycling, but i do plan to field trial ProdiBio since we just started distributing the brand.

Im using a Tunze Silence on my new setup as well... Great pump.... It's definitely names Silence for a reason... Im going to make my durso over again because the water into the overflow is the noisiest part of my tank...

So here is the latest dilemma.

I thought my little aqua bee was not cutting the pace so upscaled to a Tunze silence 700GHP (ok not so silent compared to the aqua bee)

My dilemma is this

The sump is about 10 gallon, so would you

A, High flow.
Or
B slow is best?

I am leaning towards slow as if nothing else the tank seems calmer in terms of noise.

Is there a right or wrong though? Does a skimmer perform better with higher flow than lower flow?

My skimmer seems to be performing better at high flow, but could just be me LOL.

Interested to know if there is a right or wrong or just, whatever you prefer.

Got Tunze as that was all i could get at trade LOL

yes the slower flow through a sump means more contact time with the skimmer. You can always put a ball valve in line and slow the flow. Or if you plan on running a media reactor for GFO or carbon you can T off the main pump and use a ball valve to control flow through the media reactor. Might be your best bet as that's what I do and use a tunze for return. My sump is 30 gallons though.

Keep it, you’re not running a berlin filter or a fuge! Make that skimmer process the maximum amount of water it can!

so from overnight pm's emails etc there seems to be two camps

High flow
Low flow

My question is are the low flow guys basing the reason on having low flow if you have a refugium etc and not just a skimmer and small phos reactor and thats it?

My thoughts would be

High flow or at least good flow, if you just have a skimmer etc
Low flow if you have a refugium?

The feedback so far has been

No refugium etc - pump as much as the sump can handle
Yes to refugium - pump low volumes

I think we all could learn a lot from sharing these ideas and thoughts.

I am a fan of low flow through the sump. I use one Tunze 1073.040 silence pump for my 460 gallon and 5 Vortech MP40's for crazy flow in the tank.

No micro bubbles and everything is happy!

Looking good Michael.
