The Twins Aquarium thread

Stopped in here today on my way home from work. Neat little store with a little bit of everything.
It was crazy busy...too many people to really get a good look at the coral tanks.
He sure does have LOTS of shrooms ! lol Great prices on the fish I saw though.

Since he is right on my way home, I think I'll have to stop in more often ! :)

I knew I should have grab it. Some guy in Sac grab the other one the day before.

I didn't count it so was it 9 heads like he said?

here's a picture of them in my sump:

I'm probably going to trade them for something else (like some pink or red yumas), I'm not a huge fan of corals that need to be fed. I was thinking though that a sump full of these would be a good detritus filter, catch uneaten food, etc... AND they don't need any light so it would be perfect. Maybe if I can get my hands on enough of them.... ;)

Jesus, that was the only one I saw. Lak said there was another one that somebody else bought. I'm sure John would get you some if you ask him. I already traded it away for other goodies :D

Ryan, yea they look nice, but they're non photosynthetic and need to be fed which is why I'm not into them too much, I tried before and it was too much work for me. They're like sun corals but they stay open with the lights on. A lot of people want them right now.

good deal jake. i was going to get it but it didn't look as happy as it is in your picture when we saw it. good deal.

Thanks for the heads up on it. With dendros, as long as the skeleton has flesh on it they're usually ok. They open up more under lower light.

Off topic, we ate at Saigon Grill in Lodi. It was ok, we both liked Le Kims better.

OT: we've gone to almost all the viet resturant in stockton and couldn't find anything that was close to Le Kims. I just like the overall feel and taste of the place.

It's strange that John's been getting expensive corals in lately. Yuma/rics, Acan, and now dendros.

How well do the dendros propagate?

By propagate, do you mean grow, or how easily are they fragged? How fast they grow depends on how much you feed them, aquatic gallery fed theirs twice a day for a year and grew from 3 heads to about 20.

I don't have a lot of experience fragging them, it can be a little scary because the heads tend to grow right on one another and the flesh goes down deep into the skeleton. On the other hand, If they're separated by dead skeleton it's a piece of cake.

With them being one of the "collectible" corals lately, if you find them at a good deal get them and trade for something that YOU want :D

The going rate is $30 per head for a good deal to $60 per head but at the end, its what you're willing to pay for it.

I'd agree with that, if you can get them for less than $30 a head - do it. The average online price is probably about $50 per head.

Nice dendros!

Yeah, I've noticed John's been getting pretty pricey...

He told me he's moving... maybe thats why? I don't know..
