Think it's worth a grand?

who cares about all this none sense. I don't be believe in opinions based on paper specs and assumptions. Until these come out and people start testing them, measuring numbers, etc all the opinions are based on nothing and people are just trying to be know it alls.

the motor block is all thats left when they get done with them but they ALL use the same base pump according to hagen who make the pumps..... but again believe what you like.
well, i believe what i see, and i saw how much custom klaus does do those pumps, when klaus is done with em, there is nothing left,

klaus told me hagen is building em after custom specs, he told me he has to take a 1000 pumps at once then hagen will build em how he wants em

i cant prove that of course, but i will take his word for it

but what i do know, is that a lot of custom is put in to those pumps, since i was there watching the CNC working

Customer support is a great thing, but I can't imagine better service than what Marine Solutions has offered me on the SWC askoll cone.

I think these arguments are kinda useless. All these skimmers are excellent products, with very little testing (if any at all) to distinguish between them. I hear a lot of clamoring about superiority but NOBODY who owns any of these cones (ATB, SWC, WM, I-Tech, etc.) seems to be complaining about their purchase or the quality of the skimmer.

I think the best bet is to buy from the dealer you most trust or already have a relationship with, and save a few bucks where you can. There's just no reason at this point to think one is better than the other. Maybe in a year or so, but not now.

btw, if you ever come to germany, you should visit RE/Klaus, i am about 2 hours away and tooke the time to drive there,

was time well spend,

it is something to see, didnt expect that much actually,

my next trip will be to KZ and FM, i like to visit places like that, gives you a whole new picture of a company

You may not be able to imagine it but Victor will answer the phones at night and weekends. Warner Marine also will answer on weekends on occasion.

The why make it a point to always refer to them a cone clone. I don't refer to a fellow reefer as a reefer clone.

Is that comparion fair, nobody could clone your sucess. :)

It's not really a bad thing is it? cones like this work.

I've had late evening conversations with Jeff from Marine Solutions on more than one occasion. A couple well after midnight. I've also spoken to Rob who spent a lot of tiem with me working on something. Both of them have provided top notch support.

Jeff at Marine Solutions has taken my call on weekends, late night, even once at church!!! I'm glad to see there are still a lot of devoted vendors in our hobby.

well hmm, all this talk about cone skimmers brings me back to the USA made Warner MArine Skimmer that comes out by late next week. The vertex cone looks very promising. I do think with the 6 in neck and the large pump, that it will take a pretty big load to keep it running strong. Simply and awesome skimmer. And comparing it to an ATB is just silly. It will have the best build quality for a skimmer that is in the market. And actually be cheaper than theATB medium that it would compare too. Pretty much no brainer when you can get it for less. L\the MEdium ATB with airstar looks likes its selling for $1399 and pulls 1300 lph of air as the vertex cone will be 99 preorder and around $1200 there after. pulling $1500 lph od air. I have nothing against ATB skimmers. And have hashed it out with most when I reviewed the Warner Marine K2 skimmer. N mater What cone you buy I am sure you will be happy.Just look at what you get. What are you looking for and whats important to you.
Customer service is top notch from proline ,MS, and WM. I cant vouch for ATB yet as I havent had to call them. I have seen the ATB skimmers but not owned one myself. Sorry just had to add my 2 cents.

I like to call my vendors during business hours. I'm just saying.
Seriously... What emergency must you have with a PROTEIN SKIMMER, that you need to call someone at midnight? It couldn't wait until the morning?

I know that you're just saying that they are there, regardless... But holy moly. Give the guys a freakin' break! It reminds me of the hash of crap that Marvin has got lately. I know everyone takes this hobby seriously, but we all need to take a step away from our sumps sometimes and just be happy with the fish that swim.
