thinking of adding a tunze to my MP40

My Tank size 90 cm x60 cm x60 cm, mixed LPS and SPS Tank with fish too, I have 1 (RW 15) and 1 (MP 40), i am thinking to removed my RW 15 as the flow is too direct and it creates sandstorm or I will just let it stay and serve as wave pulse mode.

the reason why I am thinking of adding a tunze pump to my existing MP 40, as I want to position it opposite to each other since there is some dead spot when I am running MP 40 alone.

I wonder what will be the best modle of tunze in this regard ; 6055 OR 6095? or should I use much smaller like 6045 (but it is uncontrollable) or other models?.

will much appreciated for your best advise.

I have a 90x50x50 and I'm using 2xmp10 + 2x6055 as wave-maker. I also have 2xmp40 stored because they are to powerful for this size of tank. If you had a Mp10 will be more dimmable then the 6055/6095...

Thanks for your advise .

I was wondering aside from the controllable , 6055 and 6045 are almost the same specs .

Is the controllable only for making pulse mode and speed control ? I can see prices varies a lot between these two models .

Thanks for reply .

Further to your earlier advise .

I wish to retain my MP40 as it really do a great job , so if this is the case , should I buy 2 x 6055 or 1 x 6095 ? I think the side where MP40 was placed has a low flow and rocks are cover with much more algae than the side that MP 40 flow reaches , so I want to buy Tunze pump opposite to my MP 40 to also reaches the dead spot with our creating a sand storm as my RW 15 does .

Please to hear more advises as I have to place my order soon.

Cheers ,

MD

Thanks for your so helpful advise.

Just a questions , does your Tunze 6055 create any sand storm ? I ask this as this is my primarily concern that is why I am removing my RW 15.

Furthermore , the flow rate of 6095 is 2,000-9750 l / hr while one 6055 is rated 1,500 to 5,000 liters , so with simple arithmetic , 2 X 6055 will give me in total 3,000 to 10,000 l/ hr flow rate , right ? Well I believed I won't be operating both in full speed though .

I agree with you , two 6055 better option than 1 X 6095 , but a bit harsh to my pocket :)

I have two rw 15 on my 180. Just point it up a little so it won't kick the sand around.

I have set my mP 40 less than half and the side where is facing the sand are just fine ,but the side that my WR 15 is facing that has sands storm and this is the reason why i am replacing it with either two 6055 or one 6095.

For those user of Tunze 6055 or 6095 of my tank size , do you experience sands storm in your tank? I understand these pumps are wide flow like MP 40 that the flow is not focus only on one point like the WR 15 thus it s flow did not only hit one single area and bouncing back hard?

I think in combination with the Mp40, one 6055 or 1 6095 is enough. The 6055 is a more focused and lower flow, the output is narrower, the 6095 has a wider flow and the force is not higher than the 6055 but it is higher total flow. Either would work, if you goal is to direct flow at a particular area, the 6055, if you want flow throughout the tank, the 6095.

Thanks for your advise.

So should I say the 6095 is more similar to MP40 wider flow ? As I try to avoid sand storm (as what my WR 15 does and that is why I am replacing it).

If I put both 6095 and MP 40 fronting each other in both opposite side , how you will imagine the flow inside the DT? More over if both are in pulse mode will it create a big wave at the end ? Or perhaps you have other model that you think will be achieve the best result in combo with MP 40. I am free to any advise as I want to achieve the best flow on my tank .

Will much appreciated for your kind advice as I need to place order soon before I travel .

Yes the 6095 will have a flow more like the MP40, very wide. In general for the small price difference this is what I would pick, the main reason to choose the 6055 is if you want to focus flow on one area.

thanks Roger,

I just got back from the US and bringing me 2 * 6095 plus a 7090.300 Y adapter cable. now just try to figure out how to plays woth these toys. hate of going with the instructions manuals, my eyes is not good, can you possible give me a short briefing how to make thing start, I saw three bottoms and learn from your answer to the other post between the main and the puse. I wonder how can I attached the 7090.300 Y adapter cable with both 6095 and my Apex, how can I control or what it will provide if attached to my Apex. sorry, an Old guy try to live the way with this high tech generation.

cheers,

MD

To connect to the Apex you will need the cables from Apex and possibly the VDM module if you don't have one. To connect the two controllers, you will set one in External mode and use the other for your settings and connect them with the 7092.300, 7090.300 is to connect a 3rd pump or a photocell/moonlight and a pump but you still need 1 7092.300 as well. The port is on top of the controller and covered by a rubber plug.

So you mean I bought the wrong cables ? Can I use the 7090.300 to just connect the two 6095 and make one master and the other slave and ignore the other plug?

The 7090.300 has 2 female ends and one male end, the pumps need a male connector. 7092.300 is just a standard 5 pin DIN or MIDI cable, an electronics shop should have them. They were commonly used to connect musical instruments to mixing boards and computers in the 90's but have largely been replaced by USB, they are still available though, especially at music and electronic stores.
