I have read most of this thread and have considered buying an ozonizer. I do have one question. My aquacontroller probe gives me a reading of 385. Do i still need to run ozone, will i still see the added benefit of running one?..I was just thinking that some people run it to bring those numbers up, but what if they are already there?.

Thanks.

Is your probe calibrated ????? is it clean ???? when you clean it you may have a drastic drop in the ORP reading.......start there then post again

My mv droped as soon as I started adding o3. My mv was 325 with out ozone, but know it is 289mv. Any reason for this

With my experince with my 2 aqua controllers . when your readings are that high without ozone you need to clean your probe in vinegar after that you will see it drop to the correct reading then start from there.

I need to clean my probes once a week inorder to keep the right reading as they get dirty they tend to raise above the actual orp .

Cool, i will soak mine tomorrow and see if there's any change. I'll report back. I take it 1/2 hour in vinegar would be good right?

I just bought the Aqua Controller II with new probe but the reading is around 450mv. What should I do with this? soap it and clean the probe.

Would putting flow on the probe (pointing power head towards) keep the probe from getting gunked up as fast, or would it throw off the reading more?

I did the cleaning last night and this morning it read 305 before lights, now it reads 294, Hmmm. I might be looking at this ozonizer a bit more. My tank is only a 75gal, so i assume the 50g units are fine, although i might go with the 100g for future and just use it less often. Is that a good idea?

Also is redsea a good unit, or is aquamedic better?

Those readings sound normal to me for a tank with a moderate load (and no ozone). one thing I found that keeps my orp level up and reduces the amount of ozone I have to run is using Purigen. I keep a small bag inside my carbon reactor and recharge it every 4-6 weeks.

Either Redsea or Aquamedic are good models. I run the Enaly unit since I already have a controller. Regardless of which unit you choose, be sure to use an air dryer. While other people only recommend them, I feel the use of a dryer is mandatory to prevent the negative reaction when ozone reacts with moist air. As an added filtering step I added a bag of dry carbon to filter the air before it is drawn into the dryer.

Maybe running ozone cleaned your probe :p

I ordered my redsea 100 unit. I got one of those JG t's for now, hopefully it doesn't break down. My controller will handle the monitoring.

This is for my euroreef cs1, so i take it from the thread that i will not need an air pump? I also skipped on the check valve, was that a bad move?

What other components in my system should i worry about with the use of ozone?..I have a 5gal sterilite container that is my fuge, should i be concerned? And how about the rest of the plumbing, chillers, pumps, etc?

Thanks.
