I've been thinking about getting the 3 gallon nano does anyone know anything about it from personal use or from a friend?

Complete 3 gallon Nano Reef Aquarium
PF-80 power filter with an 80 GPH pump
18W compact fluorescent light with a 50/50 14K and 7400K lamp

I've heard good things about them, and they look cool.

I just ordered one today. I saw them at Reefapalooza last summer, and was hoping they'd be at MAX, but they're not going to be, so I ordered one from my LFS.

I'm curious what others have to say, too, so I'll tag along.

I heard once the light bulb burns out you have to buy a whole new light

I read that, too, after I ordered it. Not sure if it's the case, but I see replacement lights for the deco kit 1 for sale here:

http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/215655/product.web

So maybe you can get replacements, and nobody knows it?

When the bulb goes out, if I can't get another bulb, I'll probably just get a different light for it, that I can replace the bulbs.

I got one at reefapalooza. I wish I had gotten the glass one. The plastic one scratches too easy. Not bad for $20.

One of those mini powerheads was a perfect addition.

Here it is on my desk

I read that, too. So, they make them in both plastic and glass?

If I had it to do over again I would get the JBJ 3 gallon picotope and create a lighting configuration

http://www.petsolutions.com/default.aspx?ItemId=92421282&EID=92421282&SID=FROOGLE

It is made of glass and JBJ sells replacement bulbs.
The light is only 9w though.

Thanks for the tip. I called my LFS and decided to wait. He says Current has a pico system coming out next month that's really nice, too, so I might want to check that out before I make a decision.

Deco does make them in glass. I cant imagine that you cant buy a replacement bulb.

I was also looking at the jbj it looks the same as the deco with a couple of exceptions

The light is 9W instead of deco's 18
the filter is only 40gph compared to deco's 80gph

but i think the jbj is $10-15 cheaper.

So many decisions, what to do?

alohagreg nice tank!, is that the 3 gallon, and where or who did you buy it from at Reefapoloza for only $20

and how well do corals grow in there? I actually want to make it an all polyps and xenia tank. Would it work Well for that purpose

I got a deal from the TOM rep.

Not sure how much growth you would get.
The GSP and zoos seem to do well.
You may want to add another 18w fixture if you want to see a lot of growth.
