Toofrigginswt's Custom 125 Gallon Tank Build

Hahaha.. isn't that always the case? I'm swapping out a bunch of corals to make room.

I am doing the exact same thing. I got rid of the wild browned out corals and the tester frags i got when i first started the system in 2011 in order to make room for the popular named corals. I am starting with ORA corals and working my way up to the ATL corals. I used to live in the Bay Area close to Atlantis aquarium. I am shopping there this coming summer.

Well, I think it's also hard for you because all of your pieces are nice show pieces. I have a lot of browned out corals that I might just give away to someone here that might have better luck with them. Any takers?

I would be willing to try a few. Since Firemansac and I have both the same and different systems we both try to see how different corals react in our tanks.

I've always had great luck with ORA corals. I had a red planet sit in a bucket in my hot garage with no flow for two days once and it still lived. haha.

I am "cheating" on my current system. I bought 12 aquacultured corals from Alex "thecoralgarden.org" sometime ago. They were all browned out since he is using yellow halide to grow them out of his frag tank. It took a few weeks for the corals to color back up but all 12 aquacultured corals are some of the most colorful pieces I have in my tank. I am in the process of ordering ORA corals and I am pretty much ordering monthly from a vendor to get every single sps in their catalog. I expect every single one to color up and thrive in my system. I am willing to pay a premium on aquacultured pieces because I know they will color up and a lot less of a gamble than wild pieces.

These are in the works for me this month.....

Micronesian Hard Corals
Yellow Fuzzy
Purple & Green
Micronesian Mauve
Teal & Purple Bushy
Yellow Lantana
Purple & Yellow Scroll Coral

ORA Hard Corals
Acropora
Blue Voodoo Staghorn
Frogskin Acropora
Green Velvet Acro
Indo Purple Tip Staghorn
Miami Orchid Staghorn
Plum Crazy
ORA Verde
Scripps Green Tip Stag
Stuber Staghorn
Woolly Acropora

Montipora
Confusa
Purple Digitata

Stylophora
Green Stylophora

I likely have some of these in my tank but I can only be sure once I get them with the blue plastic plugs.

Glenn, you should add the Reef Raft Sabertooth coral to that list. That's my dream coral right now. I've seen the mother colony in person and it looks unreal.

Definitely a stunner, as are a lot of their pieces! Let me know when you grow it out ;)

Another coral shipment. The first batch that was sent had a lot of casualties due to it being a super hot day in Sacramento. I don't think having a heat pad in the box helped the situation at all. The seller sent me a replacement shipment of all the ones that didn't make it plus a bunch of extras!

A few of the bags have copepods running around in them lol.
