Yea LEDS, DIY set, purchased from someone who made another set that dimmed. 2 fixtures, each fixture consists of two separate strings of 12 3 watt CREE leds. One string is 12 XPE royal blues. The other string is 4 royal blues, 2 XPG neutral whites, and 6 XPG cool whites.

Do you have any experience with vodka dosing in comparison? I did a very methodical dosing and had some results but nothing stellar. Eventually I stopped and saw no real difference.

I've never dosed vodka. One thing to keep in mind it takes months to see results visibly.......that's why I don't like to chase numbers. Just because a test level is where you want it doesn't mean the corals will show it right away...........they need time to adjust as does your system to balance out.

Even after 11 months of dosing I'm still tweeking, mainly dosing less. I hand dose 3 times a day during lights on so it's not a big issue.

Did you add any bateria source while you do the vinegar dosing?

No, all the bacteria is already there............there's no need to buy it.

can we see a full tank shot

I don't have a front tank shot now because most of my corals are tiny & when I take a full tank shot all the detail is lost. Once they grow in more I'll snap one.

In the mean time here's a few shots from the side that make it look like I have a forest:lmao:

Love your SPS, you have converted me, NO MORE chasing numbers! My PO4 sits ate 0.08 and don't have much success with Acros. I also run my Alk a bit on the high side, compared to you (10-11dKh), will definitely lower that to around 8.
Well done on the tank!

Fantastic job Ed!
your corals are amazing!
I see you have zero nitrates and relatively high phospate whch is a typical scenario when carbon (vinegar) is given.
This imbalance (imbalance in Redfied Ratio) often leads to cyano.
Have never had problems with cyano?

Great thread!! Is that an orenji monti in the back? Heard they are super slow growers - how has growth been for you? All your corals looks great.

Thanks alessandro,

I've never had any problems with cyano, but I also dosed less than most people.

I did get too skewed of an imbalance & reduced my dosing slowly and worked it back up to 15ml a day. I'm still tweeking things to my liking based on colors & algae growth. I wan't deeper vivid colors and no pastels unless the coral is naturally light in color.

I wouldn't recommend .35ppm, but I know my colors will lighten under.10 with my current lights. There's a balance of light intensity & nutrients that each tank has to hit for great colors. There is no way two tanks are the same..........that's why I put less empasis on hitting specific phosphate numbers.

Thats a monti turgescens.......I'd put it up against any orange monti for orange color. Sometimes you'll get some pinkish highlights with more intense light. It can grow in columns sometimes & I'm hoping it will do that getting high flow where I have it.

Here's a top down I snapped today--

Thanks, If you really examine your acros everyday, you can see new growth that has happened overnite & also notice minute changes. Pictures can help quite a bit too for larger time spans.

Your corals and colors look phenominal Ed! If you're ever looking to frag a piece of the soli, please let me know - it's awesome! Great thread as evidence of the "keep it simple..." method. Nice stuff!

For whatever reason vinegar dosing is less likely to show cyano outbreaks than vodka and such.
I just remember reading that in chemistry forum

Thanks guys...........good luck with the frags Wayne.

Here's a few new shots----

Updated front shot of this group before I break them up so they can get more room to grow.

Hi Wayne,
No more frags for you till I get to see your setup:lol2:

How's everything doing? I might have something new in the next 2-3 weeks before the swap.

Here'a few color and growth updates/comparisons------You're gonna see a lot of the same corals in this thread because I only have 20 or so Sps................so it might be a bit boring

I do have some new ones coming in the next week or three.

Rainblow Stylo--I moved this piece more toward the center of the tank which helped quite a bit but it took a long time to start popping more.

TheReefKeeper, you'll appreciate this....... I found this old pic from last year. The frags are a frag combo I sold at last years swap.
The lower part of the picture is what my Paletta looked like amost a year ago.
There was no upward growth to speak of but plenty of encrusting.

And the new shot..... tallest branches are about 4". I was a bit shocked because I didn't think my growth is anything special in this tank.
