Tragedy strikes Dave

Hey everyone,
We all know how generous dave (o2manfish) has been over the years. While Dave was on vacation good ol DWP cut off his power for 8 fricken hours. And from there he lost ALL his fish in his display tank. Fish that he has owned for 14+ years, along with mated goldflake angels, mated flame angels, mated this and mated that... Dave has helped many many reefers through his knowledge, generosity and utter kindness.... this just sucks. But i for one am donating some of my fish from my collection when i break down my system. 1 beautiful powder blue, med sized yellow tang, yellow coris and melanarus wrasse to help with those pesky flatworms. Dave doest know im posting this, but whomever donates a fish will get all the xenia and monticap...lol
 
WOW!! That sucks. I've seen a few of his videos on youtube and he had a nice collection of fish. What about his corals?
 
I have 2 clarkii clowns that I could donate if he wants it. Someone has to come and pick them up though as I live too far from him.
 
I dont have much as far as fish....1 chromi and 1 small puffer.....
but if he wants those he can have them.....
 
This totally sucks. I live like 5 minutes away from Dave and wish I could've helped in some way had I known his power was cut off. I know he will bounce back from this but it's gotta be disheartening.
 
Holy crap. Given the density of reefers in socal, we gotta be able to find a way to prevent this from happening in the future.

very sorry to hear. I am sure Dave will make a comeback but things like that take a while. The fish to me are priceless as they become family after a year or two. Corals are corals and will grow back some take longer then others. I wish I could help the cause but I am way to far away. Brent remind me before next club meeting and maybe us club members can make him a care package.
 
The electric company should be held responsible for his loss. I would call them. Sorry for your loss Dave.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for the kind words. Fish donations at this time are not necessary. Sadly this was the second time within in a week that the power went out for an extended period. Since the first of my year I have had to run my generator for over 40 hours.

I will try to take action against DWP. It's not like I don't pay enough for them to keep the lights on.

Before starting to restock I did the smart thing and this weekend picked up a 22kw Generac Autostart generator with a 200amp transfer switch.


What I need more than fish is an electrician that can help me get this installed ASAP. I'm good with 110 and 220v - But the power coming from the pole, I don't touch.

Wow! Dave! Sorry about these losses. Sometimes this hobby will test us. I'll do a little research for you on the LADWP's liability and send you an email with my conclusions.
 
Dave, the piece at the end of the video in the outdoor frag tank is not the blue matrix it's the blue milli you fragged off of my coral.
 
Really sad to hear about your fish collection. :( That sucks.

I'm glad that your corals and some fish made it through. Hope you get some money from DWP to restock. Very glad your outdoor tank is doing great.
