Hello all,

There is currently a Bill that will be presented to congress which, if passed, will have a HUGE negative impact on not only the aquarium trade, but all pets. The bill plans to outlaw importation of non-native species with an undisclosed list of exceptions. IF made law, due to it's broad and vague wording, this law would be horrible for all aspects of the pet trade (retail, wholesale and consumer) including pets such as dogs, cats, birds, small animals such as hamsters and guinea pigs and of course the aquarium trade.

Go to the web-site below to send an e-mail to your representative to say you do NOT want this bill signed into law.

Thanks,

It makes you wonder where the priorities lie in Washington. In a time when people are losing jobs and their homes they are pursuing something like this. Granted ,there needs to be something done about invasive species but this is not the solution.

Sent... This seems like an extreme to me.

Maybe they will do what they did with guns and give you $75 per exotic animal, althought that seems a little cheap... ;)

It's like we used to say when we were kids "Someday we will pay for water" what's left air??? or maybe you will only be allowed to take so many breaths a day??
How about laws like your wife can only spend so much money per month. :) Sent...

I understand that it's difficult to discuss an issue like this without discussing the politics of it. I allowed it to run while it did not get political, but at this point, I can only do what I do with all political discussions here, end it.
What I'm going to do that's different is sticky this thread in the hopes that people will continue to see it.
