Tunze 9004 Nano Skimmer??

Electric cord length is standardized by UL and others at 2m or about 6.5ft, cord manufacturers sell this length cord and it is required to meet most electrical safety standards. It isn't really a design or manufacturing decision, it is what you have to use unless a product is low voltage.

Roger, please post on here when you know a date most dealers should be receiving first shipment. TIA

Tunze 9004

I expect my 9004 to be shipped to my lfs, where I pre-ordered it, next week.
Or 11/19-24/2012 as per Rogers confirmation.
I hope it fits in my 54 g corner tank.
We'll see.
I'll review it after a week or so for anyone interested.

Cheers, Ross

The 9004's arrived yesterday and we start shipping them today. I doubt any remain available but all existing orders should be filled. We should get more in about 2 weeks. The same applies to 3162, 3163 and 0250 Reefpacks.

Excellent news.
Should be in my tank early next week.
Curious to see how the skimmer affects frequency of water changes, doing 30% twice weekly w/o skimmer. Costly yeah!

Thanks Roger

My preorder of the 9004 is on the truck for delivery TODAY! I will post an unboxing/initial thoughts/questions thread on this forum later tonight. I think I am the first consumer to receive.

Look forward to your unbox. I am going to get the reefpack 250..hopefully in our LFS soon.

Hey Roger,
How long should I wait to adjust the adjustment screw?
Skimmate is still clear after 1 1/2 hours, aqueous foam is still happening.

Thanks Roger

I would adjust the screw immediately. If you are collecting only water, it needs to be cut back a bit, you can always open it back up later.

All adjusting the screw, after several adjustments does is raise or lower the white foam within the cone.
It has no affect on the color of the skimmate/foam bubbles.
What I am iafter is a darker foam/skimmate, correct?

Thanks

Yes, but by lowering the bubbles in the cone that will happen, the white bubbles are not what you are looking to collect. Above the white bubbles a protein foam that is finer and darker, looks like the meringue on a pie, will form and this will be blown into the cup. It can take a few hours for this foam to start to form assuming enough proteins are present but you will clearly see this separate layer riding on the white foam bubbles after some time.

Ok.
I have adjusted the white foam so it is 2/3 of the way up.
Give it a day to see results.

Roger, is this your recommendation?

Thanks again

By the evening you should see some darker foam developing, from here on out, make very small adjustments as needed a 1/4 turn of the screw at most and at least 12 hours between unless the cup is just filling with water.

Woke up this morning to skimmate.
So far so good.
I'll add more thoughts on this skimmer as I gather them.

One thing of note on the clear rubberized dimple appliqués.
They go on the 2 outside magnets 4 corner brackets.
I suppose they protect the glass.
Directions could have been clearer though, imho.
