bump...

I'm looking into buying a Tunze 9010 skimmer and am fishing for any input.
what size tank do you have and what kind of bioload?

I have it on a 100gal tank with 30 gal sump, I couldn't be any happier. Easiest thing to setup, no confusing adjustments to play around with and cleaning is very easy, I clean the cup twice a week and wet skim about 400ml each time.

I have an empty 125 gal. and want to set it up as a bare-bottom FO tank with sump. Current stocking plans are 2 fish that will get quite large...so, I guess, after the fish get large it would be considered heavily stocked.

I think you should be fine with the 9010 on that.

wow, i'm surprised at how clear the water is. i'd have thought there would be microbubbles if placed directly in the tank.

i can't wait to setup my 9010 :)

on another note, does anyone have "instructions" for the mounting hardware for these skimmers? i don't have instructions and all these screws & pieces of plastic confuse me. a picture of the mounting apparatus, or a a link to instructions would be nice.

The instructions are in the manual for the skimmer.
i bought the skimmer secondhand ... unfortunately there was no manual provided :o

Yes, good pics. Thanks. Is that running with little raw water intake or set for max. Its nice to see that not a lot of bubbles are being released.

Tunze skimmer owners...

would someone please confirm how much clearance is needed above the 9010 to remove the collection cup. I have limited height in my cabinet and want to make sure I can remove it okay before I buy.

Thanks

You would need 5" from the water line to the canopy. 8.5" are required from water line to remove the cup but I assume your canopy has a hinged top

Here you go Tony. Is that the info you need.

They can be bracketed to the side of the tank but it is installed differently when used this way and the waterlevel needs to be constant at about 10".
