tunze wavebox in action

No problem. One of the difficulties is being fair to everybody, including myself and Mr Tunze. Honestly, if I had a manual and knew that the international patent was complete, I would have no problem posting a manual.

Fantastic product, I got mine ordered yesterday. I just hope there are enough that I can get in the first run (sorry for the stupid question - I'm building a new system with this and want to tune it before I get animals in there).

I can't say thanks enough, Roger, and I can't wait. I hope you guys can keep up with the demand. I imagine it will be high.

Roger,

Quick question: I have a 315 gallon (8' x 2' x 3') tank. From reading every message in this thread it seems you recommend the wave box plus two streams for that size system. Would the included wavebox controller handle the two streams too or would it require a separate controller?

Thanks.
GK

The wavebox controller only handles thge wavebox- 1 or 2. If you only use one wavebox the controller can be connected to a multicontroller and add tide mode and night modes to the wavebox.

Roger - sorry to keep the questions coming, but this is a new product that is completely unmatched by anything else out there.

The Tsunami is similar in effect, but not commercially released yet.

Tell me please, how do you recommend dealing with the overflow? Keep the overflow lower? Is there a sloshing sound? I am designing my main living room display system and would like to cover all angles in advance. I'm spending a lot and have to get it right.

My plan is to have the overflow in a corner, but that is where the waves get highest and lowest. I'd prefer not to have sloshing sounds as waves wash over, then go below the overflow box, then up again. Just trying to prevent worst case in my design.

I'm going with a Calfo overflow. Any advice is welcome. Not sure if Gketell came here via any of my posts (he's more experienced than me but in my reefclub - I've been bringing the w.b. up there), but I'm trying to spread the good word.

Imagine the overflow box is like a shock absorber. The wave is a form of energy and the overflow box absorbs and dissipates a portion of the energy. It reduces the wave height but does not reduce the effect in the aquarium. I doubt anyone will have much trouble with overflows. I am not very familiar with Calfo overflows so I cannot help specifically.

TheMandarinFish,

I don't know if you have your tank built yet, but what about a Coast-to-Coast over flow. It may lessen the wave heigth but I don't think it will make sloshing noise.

Great idea, RedEyeRoger. The Calfo design lends itself to that, the water level could stay constant, and the wave would simply roll along the length of the overflow and reverse itself.

Fantastic. My thanks.

No guarantees on anything concerning delivery, I do my best to allot them fairly.
So long as PA gets 6, that would be fair.
Not more neccessarily, but at least SIX!

lol, guess what number I am on the list. ;)

OK Sean  I ordered 100 and I ordered first so if I get even a 1/4th of my order it should be good. Unfortunately, even though I may order first logically the first ones will be sold in Europe and that is just because it is cheaper to fix if their is an unforeseen glitch.

Sorry if I missed it but I think I read the posts, Will this device work in a Cube tank 42X42X30? just trying to decide on adding a second stream or waiting for this.

Thanks
jm

A return pump going against the wavebox direction is not a problem but a Stream defeats the purpose and dampens the wave- you can do it there just is no point.
So on a 6 foot 180 would having a 1" Sea Swirl located on the opposite end of the tank from the Wave Box dampen the effect?

Roger,
If you fly to Deutcshland, pick up a WB, fly back, meet me here I will cook you some Schnitzel.

I promise.

You have schnitzel at your restaurant? Do you have Jaeger Schnitzel? Jaeger Schnitzel and Jaeger Spoetzl is my favorite German meal. Unless you can call Donner Kebap German.

I love spaetzli. Pretty sure there is a Knorr version that isn't hard to come by.

I'm 50% swiss after all. :D

Gday!
I'm thinking of getting a Wavebox and a stream for my 72"x18"x20" AGA, My internal overflow (American type) is on the right side. should i place the stream (model?) in the left back corner, aiming to the center of the front glass, and have the box on the right next to the overflow facing down the tank? Thanks Josh

Your set up would work, I would use a 6000 Stream but it won't cover the whole tank. Unfortunately the 125gallon tank isn't a good Stream tank- too shallow and narrow. You would want to use the multcontroller with Interval mode so only one device is running at a time at 6hr intervals.
