I would imagine so... then it chills to about 45 degrees when it sits in my garage for a while :D

Is the place generally open all day/night? I work during the day so generally I can only come at night.
Yeah, my last saltwater run was at midnight.

It's about 3AM and I just got back from UCSB... There is almost no traffic at that time from LA. Thanks for the info you guys :).

Rich

cool, someone else that drives from LA, i take my truck up about once a month for 600 gallons and i go walk on the beach while the containers fill.

i would like to meet the guy in charge of the program and get a tour of the facilities sometime. i saw a thread some time ago about it but can't find it now.

Carl

yea, don't go when Carl does or you'll be waiting for a while. :D

How you doing Carl? Still making the drive I see.

I usually go up early on Sat or Sun mornings myself. Get there around 7 am and there's no traffic. It's only bad when you get there right after Carl has just started filling up his 600 G containers. Me I only take half the time as I only get 300G. :D.

600G, 300G? Where are you guys getting the containers for that amount of water? I used 4 x 32G trash cans last night and boy it was a pain in the *ss to get that down. Are you guys putting it on a trailer or on the truck bed? I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra, how much water do you think I can carry/pull?

Richard

I used to carry 4 X 50G and 2 X 65 G trashcans in the back of a '04 Chevy 4 X 4 that was lifted using springs instead of blocks. Worked just fine.

Now I get 5 X 50G trashcans in the back of a toyota Tacoma truck. I just go slow.

To empty them, I drain out my tanks and pump the water straight from the truck, thru a garden hoes into the tanks to refil them. I don't worry about temp or anything and it hasn't botherd a thing in the last several years. I do 50% water changes on my tanks about every 2 weeks. Even with the price of gas, it's still cheapier than making water and my fish and corals look a whole lot better than they did with ASW. ;)

i have a ford F-250 that is probably not designed to carry that much weight.

i use a Koi transport tank, and a 4 foot tall and 4foot diameter round barrel. then i pump the water out at my house into other holding containers through a garden hose hooked to a mag 12 pump.

How long are you guys able to store this water without losing too much quality? Are you aerating it in holding containers somehow?

Thanks you for the replies guys. I just wish the water pressure on the system was a bit stronger so I can fill up faster, but I shouldn't complain considering it's free. :)

I keep mine sealed up in a trash can and just circulate it before I do a water change. No problems yet.

Are you able to keep it that way for weeks/months?

i have kept mine in an open container for weeks at a time with no apparent ill effects. i have gotten some growth of single cell algae in the tank that i think is fed by airborne dust etc, falling in. in my new setup i will have it in a closed container one of these days. i would make sure you aerate it well before use although reading others comments above it can be used immediately and cold.

Carl

I used to store it out side in 55G trashcans for months. No heat or aeriation. They do the same at UCSB. No ill effects. But now that I have such a big tank, I use it all that day I get it since I'm doing 50% water changes on my tanks. Still no aeriation or heat other than when I fill up the trashcans and drive home with it. ;)

Anyone in the SF valley bringing back a ton of water? I wanna give this water a try. I can help with gas money. I have a 50g brute I would like to fill.
