UCSB Santa Barbara NSW Natural Sea Water...

Shaw! What time on Saturday? Im picking up more water today to finish off the nano at work.. Ill let you know how the water looks. Might have to bring a sock filter :(

I'm leaving my house around 6 am so I'll be there around 7 or a little later. If your going to be up there then, I can bring you a orange ric if your still looking for one. You'll just have to kill of the hitch hicker apstia or break off that part of the rock. Or you can stop by the house and see if there's anything else you want for your frag tank. ;) I may have a toadstool frag as well. Let me know. I can PM you my numbers if your going to come over.

Is anyone still looking for a large (550 gallon) storage tank? I have one that I need to get rid of.

BTW it's in Thousand Oaks, not Long Beach.

Is this the bike that's "more comfortable"? :D

Just got some water. Considerably less floating crap than the other day. Its been pretty calm in the channel this week as far as I can tell from the shore so I dont know what the deal was the other day.

Maybe the sand filter was worked on?

I just got some yesterday, but I was in a big hurry to get to my next site, so I haven't really looked at it. It was glass calm though, like good for water skiing calm all day while I was up there. I'll see what it looks like when I get home. If you don't hear from me tonight, consider it good.

I just setup my resealed NanoCube 12 at work with about 10 gallons of NSW. After a few minutes with the pumps on the water is crystal clear.

My other tanks are doing fine after a water change on Wednesday. I even had a nice Gold Bellied Blue Damsel in my prop tank (call him the canary in the mine shaft) and he was doing just fine until he found the inlet to my powerhead :(
Poor guy.

I just picked up 300+ G and it's crystal clear.

I did a little experiment while I was filling my containers. I took the inlet hose and sprayed the water into the container similar to what a remora skimmer does just to see if I could get anything out of the water as well as aireaite it well. Well, it foamed up really nice, but nothing came out. Within about 30 seconds of stoping the spray, ALL of the foam was gone. It was a nice white foam, nothing brown in it. Guess that just goes to show how CLEAN the NSW is. Well it's time to go do a water change. Later.

Yea but I'd have to charge you for gas. :D

Hey that SPS I took from your tank is starting to color up some to a light green color. We'll have to see how well it does.

I started my tank 3 years ago and have never put anything but the UCSB NSW in it and it's great. Never had one problem. As a matter of fact, I still have the 2 bags of salt I bought when I set up my tank. I've never mixed salt. It sure is nice to never worry about the SG either except for topping off.

Yay me! I moved from San Diego and though I lost access to NSW. I'm gonna head up tomorrow and take a peek! My wife works at UCSB, so it won't be any extra gas. Thanks for all those who contributed to this find!! :)

anyone know how long the water sits in the storage tank (on ave) before it gets to your container?

Also, anyone tested the PO4 with a good kit? Last couple times I tested the catalina stuff it was higher than my tank. I did a little research and it seems the plankton in the water start to die after being in the dark for a couple of days, hence you dont want to let it sit around for too long.

From what I remember reading in the link, I don't think it really sits for too long. I've kept it in storage tanks at my house for up to a month. Didn't tanke any PO4 readings on it though. It also didn't seem to bother anything in my tank either after sitting that long.
