I got this other stuff last night from TBS

a pic.of my 10 gal. with about 400 + baby sea horses (TBS)
2 pics. of the horses I got from Richard (TBS) in a small tank to make sure they are all eating before placing them in their big tanks.

Man, Sponges>>>> very nice LR. Keep an eye out, i should say ear out for a pistol shrimp, mantis or rouge crab, though.

I like the pistol shrimps, I have had the 90 gal going for a yr now and there are about 10-15
in it and they are only about 3/4 in
and the mantis, I asked Richard for them, they are in a 29 gal sump. (very fun to watch)

Tanks I have running right now:
1=90 /w 20 sump
1=35 /w 10 sump
1=29 /w 29 sump
1=20 with the new coral till I think its ready for my 90 gal.
1=10 for Baby horses
1=5 for new fish to see how they act/or do before putting in their tanks.

Little red decorator crab, porch. crab, weird colored sea squirt under one of the rocks, yellow sponge, and a few more seahorse pics. and my 4 day old seahorse fry, ( out of over 400 about 30 has died, already and over 100 more just stays on top of the water no matter how I set my flow or which tank their in.) I have now put them in 2 different tanks and may put some in a 3rd tank in a day or two. And I included a pic. of my green water.

Pics. of my 4 day old fry ( from male 2 erectus seahorses I got from Richard (TBS)

The fry that are eating good have doubled in thickness and swim a lot stronger.
I think about 50-100 will die within 2 more days, (The floaters) I am still trying to keep them below the top of the water but some just act like they have gave up.
I will try to keep posting updates on the fry for those who care to see if any survive.

I ordered some more sponge filters to help with current but it is probably too late for those, but around 150-200 of the fry seem to be doing good so far, eating like crazy/hitching and looking for food every where!
I am leaving the lights on 24/7 and keeping the water saturated with BBS so if the smaller fry decides to eat they can.
Advice is welcome!

I will post again when I get more pics. of something different or a few days older fry hopefully

It's very important to keep everything very clean and sterile. I would suggest removing all of those fake plants in there becuase they will just become a breeding ground for bacteria. They are too big for the babies to hitch onto anyway.

Try small zip ties to start or gutter guard from home depot and you don't need to put a lot in there. Make sure that you are removing the brine from the tank and not just leaving it in there. It's better to feed them several times a day rather than just leaving it in there. They will keep eating and eating and eventually start pooping out live brine. When that happens, they are eating but not getting any nutrition.

I hope that helps a bit....... good luck and don't get frustrated....

any ideas on how I can get the floaters to go below so they can eat, you can see how much smaller they are then the others when they try to go down they go right back up it looks like they are struggling to go down( I think part of them are small because the male had them too early from stress, some even still had yoke sacs. ?) looked like bubbles with tails swimming!

Well, here is an update, about 200 have died in total.

It seems like the ones that stays at the top of the water don't eat, and they hold each other in clumps of fry till they die.I even put 4 air lines but they still stay clumped together!

The ones in the 10 gal. are still growing and doing good, I now have 3 air line running in this tank to create enough current to keep all below the top.( around 200 )

Built a tube shaped fiber screen cage with lids on each end to experiment with the floaters to keep them in the middle( I feel like I have nothing to lose any way)
with them.( after it dries completely there is about 45 floating in the hex 5 gal. tank that I will put in it till they do better or die.) will let ya'll know if it works with any or not, some are already to far gone I think but we will see.

One of my horses I bought last yr. just had another 62 fry.
So they are in a different setup, (wide mouth 2gal. pickle jar) with one air line in the middle, with it's shape, it seems to keep all fry forced at least 2 inches below the surface of the water, using small strip of plastic screen for them to hitch to.
We will see if this works better or not!

I will post another update about Sunday (with pics. if any are still alive by then)

My new live rock and coral from TBS is still doing great, I added about 15 beach shrimp to it so maybe they will have some baby's so I can feed them to the baby seahorses if I have ant at that time.

I noticed that the mysid that is raising in my main tank and sumps are a different type then the ones I bought from a dealer the other day, I caught 50 out of 2 sumps, and placed them in a plastic container over a week ago and they are all still alive and many with full pouches.(They have a red tint to their bodys and they crawl every where they go) I am keeping these separate from the other kind, and am trying to raise these in larger numbers then in my tanks and sumps. If these raise better then i will set more cultures of these.

The ones I bought,( white and swims in the currents and hardly ever crawls) a week ago are all dead now, with the same kind of setup as the other 50 out of my tanks!

I got in another 500 yesterday, fed a few to my adult horses, and turned the rest lose in a 29 gal sump with live rock and live sand. Will see if any are still alive in a week that way.

So that is what is going on here for now!

Still have over 200 erectus fry alive on day 9, and most look good a few small one look to be on their way out!

The wild caught erectus from Richard are doing great, all eating frozen misis now, the female and one male took to eating them the first try, the other two males took about four days of feeding live and frozen at the same time, each day cutting down on the amount of live food. Now just frozen food!
They have changed colors from when I got them, they were dark in color, and now they are light colored most of the time. the female some times looks kinda greenish tent to her with a light red tips on her spines down her back and tail.
They are still shy, they will completely get behind something in the tank if I get within ten feet, so I haven't got any more pics. yet. They are very different acting from my captive horses. I like their coloring better then my captive horses.
I am ready for Richard to get me 2 more females with lots of cirri to go with the extra males. I think he has already been looking for some for me, haven't talked to him yet,
I will share a lot more pics of the ones I have now, and the new females when they come in.
All 62 fry of the last batch is doing good so far!
I have moved all fry to large jars, that's the only way I could get the current high enough on top of the water to keep from the fry from floating.
I have not lost any after doing this,There are a few small ones from the 1st batch that look weak, so they may be on their way out, 10-20!

The live rock corals are doing great, the cycle went easy, I had to scrape the blue sponges off on day 2 of the cycle but all others are fine.
Have seen several nass. and cirth snails, and 4-5 limpets, I like those and may order some more, and get rid of some of my hermits or put them in another tank for hard times as a cleanup crew.

I will try to get more pics. up in a couple days.

If your wanting live rock,dry rock, rock with corals (TBS) should be your only choice IMO! He has more stuff on his web sight tbsaltwater.com check it out if you haven't already.

I have ordered 4 times from him and ever time he has out done himself!
Great guy to buy anything from.

5th is a pic. of my 3 day old bbs tank ( just showing how fast the green water grew in there in 3 days, just added a turkey baster full and now I can't see the bbs until I pull them out with a net.

They still will not let me get a good pic. each one, but here is pic.1 and 2 of what i could get.
3 is of my rose tip anm. sucked up in a 1300 gph. pump It did not hurt it or loose any tenticles.
4 is a better pic. of my mantis, Richard sent me!
5 is just some plastic scrapers floating in the top of a sump I use to collect isopods to feed the adult seahorses as treats, they crawl in the woven plastic then I shake them out in the horse tank

1 and 2 is one of the new rocks from Richard I placed it in one of my horse tanks for now, showing the sponges open feeding.
3 is of purple sponges feeding in my 20 gal. spare sea horse tank.
4 is of all the new sponge rocks in the 20 gal after 10 days.. Very Light cycle
5 is a white sponge growing under my rock in the a sump 1 yr old.

1 is of a white sponge growing behind my rock in my 90 gal. attached to the glass.
2 is of a purple sponge. couldn't get it real clear my flash was blocked by the over flow box.
3 is of yellow sponge Richard gave me last year, and clam feeding, cup coral, and sponge on new rock.
4 is of white cups on the side i didn't notice till today on the new rock from 10 days ago.
5 cups on the new rock I placed in the 90 gal.
