Congrats on the new house and tank. I really am jealous of that light, it's super nice.

Thank you very much!

The light fixture is fantastic. I honestly cant believe how cool it runs with no fans. Germans know what they are doing!

Other than Radium + VHO Actinics, this is s SUPER light combo! Cant wait to see what this will do for your corals. :celeb2:

Very nice, Dowtish! Congrats on the new build! I'm really liking the pic of your pooch with the stand. If she is anything like my dog, she will eventually grow jealous of the tank :)

What happened to the large green birdsnest?
I sold it along with my pink hyacinth birdsnest. They were really large and I was just kind of over them. Wanna try some new things. Here is a pic of the green bird in a cooler. It measured 16"x14"

Me too man! I just have to be careful to acclimate slowly. I have only been running the halides for 3 hours a day, and the light is over 2 ft above the tank.

Love that light fixture!!!

Thanks Chris! I am stoked to have it. I got it from someone getting out at a good price.

Thanks CUNA! my pittie growls at me when I'm staring at the tank. LOL

Acros do come in a lot more colors, and some are much more vibrant than that.

Yes they do! I am wanting to get a few more smoothskin type acros and just a couple more high end pieces when the bank account allows it.

Specifically 20 or 30K Lokani,ATL banana lokani, red or pink or purple dragon, aussie ice fire enchinata, and a RMF Ice Age granulosa.

PC superman, RR 'the vinh', and Tyree rogue millie are on the list as well.:eek2:

Red dragon, banana lokani and ice fire are awesome! Haven't heard of the last ones, so I'll have to look those up.

You may like the Hawkins echinata as well. Garf bonsai is kinda smooth skin and has really nice color contrast.

I already have both of those. :bounce1:

I really like the equipment lost on this tank. It's good you are acclimating slowly. That light could cook your coral no problem. It runs cool, but does your system heat up with it?

lol so I was right in that you would like them ;) Nice choices btw. I recently got a frag of the Garf and I'm slowly light acclimating it to higher light. It was being held for me in about 120 PAR, so little by little.

As far acros go for me, I just have a few more on my list: a turquoise stag and red planet.

Thanks man. I currently still do not have my Apex set back up yet. But I have been monitoring my temp since I added the new DC pump and the new lights. So far the temp swing with the Halides on for 3 hours is only 1 degree difference, but the lights are also very high off the tank right now too. It wont be until I have the lights fully acclimated and lowered and when the warm temps next spring arrive will I know if a chiller will have to be added. I did put a threaded cap on my manifold that I can take off and attach a barb fitting to feed a chiller if necessary.

So I have my new cerameco rocks and about 35lbs of new marco rock "cooking" here. This is NEW rock with about 15 lbs of LR from my sump on my 30B setup. This is the rock that will be going into the DT once I feel it is ready. I put my 160 cone skimmer in the tub the day we moved the tank (6 days) and this is what it has pulled out of the water! No wonder folks have GHA issues with dry rock.

Try and get as much phosphate out of those rocks as possible. I know it will cost some $$$ but if you can put a reactor in there stuffed with GFO, and measure the PO4 level every few days.

When my wife visited her relative in the states I got her to bring back Marco rocks to the UK. I treated the stuff with Muriatic Acid to clean the PO4 off the rock.

You wouldnt believe the disgusting foam that was produced. Goes for all dead/mined rocks to be honest. The rock was pretty clean of PO4 afterwards.
