Vertex Pro Bio Pellets

Day 2 of pro-bio pellets... I noticed a lot of bubbles on the pellets today and I gave it a nudge and they all dissipated. Is it possible that the bacteria are already producing nitrogen gas in that quantity or is it probably just air bubble that got caught in the reactor? Also, my water is still pretty clear, no bloom at this point.

Can you guys please describe the tumbling of the pellets? Just enough for them to barely tumble at the surface? Or do you want them to tumble an inch or two? Please and thank you.

just started using mine yesterday, i am starting off small though. i went with about 100ml to start on my 125g tank, i plan on adding more every week or so, depending on how these first 100ml go.

i am using them in a 2little fishies reactor, but i do have a question, i can only get one side 2 tumble no matter how high i raise the flow, is there a trick to fixing this??

I to am new to this Vertex BioPellets. I placed mine in a Phosban Reactor 550 about 1000ml of them. I am having a few issues that I hope to get responses on. My filter socks are getting cogged and slimy within a day. Also within the phosban reactor it has created a slimy film that is now clogging my mesh that I put in there thus reducing flow.
HAs anyone seen this?
What should I do?

I would stop using the filter socks. Are you using the foam for the reactor? If so, you need to replace it with some plastic screen. Most are using the the white plastic screen from Michael's the craft store.

The clogged filter socks welcome to carbon dosing it's part of the process. The slimy film is the bacteria that carbon dosing grows. how big is the tank? sounds like 1000ml may be to much. Everything sound like your on track.

Toadally - no I am not using the foam that was in the reactor. I did buy plastic mesh but I am thinking it is too small of holes. I cam home yesterday and found the mesh full of slime and water barely getting through.
Groundfury - Does the slimy film stop eventually? I use the filter socks to capture debris and to stop bubbles coming from the skimmer. I have a 300g tank and 70g sump, minus the LR which was about 300lbs.
I wanted to contact the company but I do not see a contact number.

Reactor as well as tube are straight as can be. I'm using Vertex' own reactor without the foam disc. I have used a fine mesh instead. I wonder how important it is to have the whole thing tumble?! I estimate that 3/4 of the pellets have good flow (I can see them tumble and move) the last part doesn't. But I can't imagine that it gets no flow at all.

if the slime is white/clear then you may want to reduce to amount of pellets you are running, maybe remove 25% and see how it does. it's a game finding out what is the right amount without having to much.

I've been using these pellets for 1 week to the day, and my hair algae is starting to die and fall off the rocks. Looking good so far. I had slightly cloudy water for 2 days (only looked like I stirred up the sand or something... not milky like others)
