Anyone using the IN-250?

What pump does it use and how many watts is it pulling?

I want to put it on a mixed reef, total 200 gallons.

Ok guys, looking for some input. I purchased a IN 280 about a month ago and have been struggling. It has overflowed a few times now and after some tinkering yesterday, it looks like the elbow that connects into the top of standpipe is getting plugged with salt creep thus cutting off air into the pump. It also looks like the elbow reduces airflow to pump also. After I cleaned it, I hooked it up again and ran it, when I pull the air line form the elbow, the level in skimmer dropped.

Has anyone else had similiar issues? How do you keep it from clogging up?

you dont have to have the airline hooked up to the elbow. it basically acts as a silencer. if you want to keep it get one from the hardware store that is bigger. is the skimmer section of your sump at a constant level? i would not connect the airline if you think it is causing restriction.

Yes, my skimmer section is at a constant level. Get a larger elbow from the hardware store?

go to lowes or home improvement and look for an elbow. should find one in the plumbing department where the qiuck disconect parts are. it doesnt have to be exactly the same as the old one. i would honestly not even worry about it. take the elbow out of the standpipe. if you need a silencer look up diy air silencer. very simple just uses a pill bottle and some rigid tubing

after reading your post static69 i messed around with mine and the elbow connection for the airline does restrict alot. the level dropped about 1.5" in the neck when i disconnected it. so what i did was just take the elbow out of the standpipe and just put the airline in the hole. works just as good but no restriction

That is what I was thinking of doing...so far so good after clearing the elbow, but I'm not aggressively running it wet, very dry right now as I'm afraid of it overflowing again.

When you first start it off, where do you set the level?

Also when you do have it set, what percentage do you have it closed?

I have to turn it almost 3/4 closed to get the head at the level of the bottom of the collection reservior when I first start it up.

Anyone had problems with the pumps going bad on these skimmers??
My IN-100 is about 3 weeks okd, and the pump is making a loud noise and the water flow is no longer enough to make the shimmer work. I tried cleaning/reseating the impeller and all that, but it's just a bad pump. Working on getting it replaced now.
