Ward,
Whichever pump you decide to go with, let us know the result. I know eventually i have to replace my stock pump. I really have my eyes set for the Askoll 1500 but if the BB is good then I'd go with it.

Bill,
Do yo have any pix of your 250 with the 3000?

Noel

There are some additional shots on page 54 of this thread, But my sump skimmer section was built just big enough to hold the Vertex and getting a clear shot of the pump hookup can only be done next time I take It out to clean the whole skimmer. But i will do that in the near future as It has been over 3 months since It was installed and will be cleaned soon.
On another note let me be clear that you do not have to modify the Bubble Blaster pump in any way to swap pumps, If you do that you will VOID the three year warranty that coralvue gives on these pumps, So beware....

Cool. Thanks Bill.

Ward,
Not sure what you are referring to when you say two nipples at the motor end. Do you have any pix or link so I can check it out? You might be referring to the anti lime loop line, I am not sure.

Thanks for the link Bill, I saw the pix 2 sec after I posted asking the question.

Is the Vertex IN 180 In-Sump Protein Skimmer, Generation 2 instock anymore.
I've been to a few sites and they all say out of stock and not sure if it will ever be instock again.

I'm asking because I'm getting ready to buy a skimmer and would like this one but not if I can't buy parts later down the road.

Anyone know of anything?

Thanks

I bought mine from Marine Depot and they no longer sell the skimmers, just the impellers and collection pumps. The only distributor I know of is in Canada and I think I called Marine Depot and they gave me the contact info for this company who resolved my problem fairly quickly. Still going to replace pump with other than Vertex though.

maybe because it's not performing to expectations.

Mine isn't, even with the hydrofoamer 9410.040.

I have put my old reliable back in and will try the tunze directly off the side of the skimmer instead of running it through the elbow.

My opinion is the output into the bubble chamber needs to be much lower or directed downward into the center tube. The mixing in the body is only utilizing 1/2 of the body.

If that's the best, then the skimmer should be about two inches shorter.

Thinking I should have got the IN100 instead-better design!

Anyone have "GOOD" nog pics from the IN80?

Tivo

sorry for the last post!

I thought zeroeffect was commenting on the IN80 and I guess I should have paid attention to what I was reading and noticed the reference was for the IN 180.

Sorry

My Bad!

keep skimmer cup completely clean once a week and make sure your airline isn't clogged it will skim great. If you wait more than a week or so than all the sludge gets built up in neck of skimmer and won't make it to the cup like it should. bubbles got to have smooth flow up the skimmer neck into the cup.

I agree... and I think it works pretty well.

Hey everybody, I am thinking about putting a vertex IN 100 on a 40gallon system. The tank is going to be barebottom. Will this skimmer suit my needs for a sps system, bioload will probably end up towards the heavier side.

I'm cautious about purchasing skimmers these days, as I heard great things about the ASM skimmers a couple years ago, but I was really dissapointed with its performance on my last tank.

I've narrowed my search down to the Vertex IN 100 or a SWC Extreme 120, would I honestly be better off spending the extra cash on the SWC?

Thanks for any help!

I just got my in-100 up and running a couple weeks ago. It's doing a nice job so far, but it is pretty loud. I can't seem to get it any quieter. I am wondering if anyone has used the bb-1000 as a replacement pump. Would the bb-2000 be too much for this skimmer?

Just went to Proline Aquatics online. My computer will not open the site because Google says it has a virus on it. Does anyone know how to contact them offline?
