Wanna be Mini ocean....

I have used a ASM G-1x on a 125, with a refugium; for light bio-load. The softies and LPS grew great and the hardier SPS (monti and slimer) also grew fine.

deep sandbeds look nasty after a couple years IMO. if you want a deep sand bed, put it in your sump somewhere. not necessarily the fuge though.... if i were to have a DSB i would put it in my sump and not put a light over it.

i put chaeto in the fuge and to prevent tons of crap and cyano from getting entangled in the chaeto i blast it with power heads to keep it tumbling. the sand would just get blown around too much

Know the saying put a little sweat, tears, and blood in what you do? Will this past Thursday night before my road trip to tx to see family my luck ran out. A box cutter fell over 3 ft down with the blade fully out.

Yeah got 11 of them that night. :(

Update: I did get all my returns done and overflows. Just waiting to move to my new apartment to get my tank going. Going to make two tall pillars with a large flat rock to connect the two at the top. Also going do the samething but have two more pillars half the height of the first two.

Masonry bit will do you fine for drilling in LR. I'm not convinced about your no-overflow overflow. I wouldn't do it. Here's the reason why: If I have a problem with my bulkheads or some other issue where I have to undo the plumbing, I just have to empty out my overflow area. You, on the other hand, will drain your whole tank. Just a thought!

You break that pipe off in the tank and you're gonna have a lot of dead stuff and a whole lot of water to mop up. HTH.

ouch that is a pretty nasty gash. Hope it was a new clean blade and not a dull or rusty one. Wish you a speedy healing process.

Ya im not to sure about that "overflow" system you have either. You should really look into getting a real overflow and drill that tank.

I agree, that overflow looks pretty scary. Have you considered making an overflow box? The bottom of the tank is already drilled so I'd think you could just put a couple pieces of glass/acylic in and have an overflow in no time. Even if you had problems with the box, i'd be a slow leak. Something happens with that pipe and there would be an awful lot of water on the flow.
