Wazzel's mostly SPS 60 Cube

My Red Robin is going through a new and different shade of brown. My Rainbow acro is also a unique shade of brown. *sigh* Tank looks really good Mark!

I had several go through a brown phase too. They will come around if you are patient.

Another lighting tweak

DB, RB, V - 100
W - 95
UV - 92
G - 88
R - 84

I believe I should be able to run all channels at 100% for the 4 hours of the peak, eventually.

LED question if I may ...

My BML LED strips have 405 and 420 diodes mixed in that I run at the same intensity I run the blues at. I'm probably getting around 20% of my PAR from these BML fixtures, the rest from my ATI T5 fixture. Assuming water parameters are good (big assumption) could extra UV beyond what the T5's offer be hurting some of my acros? If so would this show up as bleaching, browning, something else?

Can you post some specs on that? It is probably beyond what I can answer. I am thinking no since actual UV (not super violet) is 400nm or less.

Yea, I'm not sure I can produce anything useful as far as specs. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious, like too much Violet can brown corals. :)

Is it all your pieces or just a few?

Just a few, a couple that have been aquacultured for a while and a couple of random frags. If it was just random I could understand, if it was everything I could understand. It's probably just a water quality issue I'm not measuring.

Random pieces do make problems harder to locate. Have you been checking for pest? How long have they been in your tank? It could just be them acclimating.

News. Wife has agreed to a 6ft tank. Now do not get excited. This will be a long project since I do not want to credit card any purchases. I put my 60 together cash only. Do not know when I will actually get started, when I do I will start a new thread, but until then I will just carry on here.

As for pests, yes. Macro lens, both top down and from the front. Nothing. I dip everything added in Bayer but certainly eggs could get through since I don't QT. I don;t want to junk up your thread anymore, I'll start a thread in the SPS forum if my latest attempts don't work. :)

Got time to plan. Need to save some money. Trying to decide between stock and custom. Looking at between 20 and 24 for the height and 24 and 30 for the width. Ideally I would like no cross braceing so I can have flexibility in lighting. Perimeter bracing would be fine.

Looks like the new tank is going to happen sooner rather than later. I stumbled across a 150 (5x2x2) complete system for not much more than just the tank I wanted. Even tho I really like planning and building this deal was way to good to pass up, being so close to what I was going to do anyway. If all works out I am going to pick it up this weekend. It is a running system so I will have to make provisions to tear my tank down and store the critters, bring in the new critters, set the new tank back up and get running all over the weekend.

Need to decide on stocking plan. I do not want to add any new pieces, but I do have a few nice things in my frag tank that are not in my display. Also a local guy wants to give me frags of his nicer stuff so he can have back up pieces. He is getting ready to start working over seas on a long rotation and wants to be able to replace if something happens to his while he is gone.

The 5 that are going to get added from my frag tank, red planet, JF coolers turki, RR peacock, strawberry shortcake and Tierra del fuego

I have no idea what my friend has in mind to give me.

I am excited. After I sell my tank and the items in this system I do not want the financial impact is going to be very minimal.

When I say complete, I mean complete. It includes fish, coral, rock, an apex system and a whole bunch of other things.

Wow, that is nice.

More or less. There are a few things I will change once I recover from the purchase. It will be up and running quickly. I picked up the holding tank yesterday.

Well tomorrow is the day. I got a kiddie pool set up to hold my stuff, 6 home depot buckets for the big corals, 7 12 gallon containers for the rocks, several ice chest of different sizes for the bagged items, a trailer and two helpers. Probably should tear my tank down tonight, but it is my nephew's birthday and we leave in a few minutes for dinner with my sister and her family. I was leery about leaving them to long in the pool anyway. I already made 15 gallons of water, will make 15 more tonight. My system has 100 gallons or so between the tank, frag tank and sump. I should be OK with the water I am going to bring back with the other stuff. I do not like the idea of mixing stuff, but I am not going to be able to QT this much stuff.
