Wazzel's mostly SPS 60 Cube

I don't understand why manufacturers have not built lights with smaller clusters to improve coverage.

It will be interesting to see what 8 clusters over your tank does to eliminate shadowing.

Reef led lab has pucks that are much smaller.

They are more prominent for the DIY people, but have been cutting edge on a lot of their innovations and actual performance.

Their controller is also the best straight forward and practical controller I've seen.

Of course , being smaller, cost can be an issue......smaller pucks means more of them, but they don't make silly claims on coverage like the other manufacturers do.

Yes they do, as does Nanobox. I was thinking more of the mainstream manufacturers I guess.

Got the second hydra going and there is lots of shading I had not noticed. I think this is going to help a lot. Still think a unit per 18" is what you need. Not 2x manufactures spec. Still have some cleaning up to do like removing the arm and stuff. Pics once I am done.

Starting the acclimation at a 45% reduction and a 3 month ramp. That is basically 10% more than I was running before. Not sure If I am going to let them get all the way to 100% like I was running the single unit. I am thinking 75% of max, which would give me 50% more light than the single unit at near 100% like I was running before.

Where are you coming up with the 1 unit per 18inches? Sounds like wishful thinking really you do need 1 unit per 12inches for even coverage according to par readings

You'll see an improvement for sure. I had 3 Radions over my 52" tank which people thought was overkill. Anything directly beneath the lights looked awesome and anything on the fringes not so much. I ended up adding a fourth which is considered super overkill and things are even better! I dropped my percentage from 65 to 45 and everything made it fine and many pieces on the fringes started to look much better. There was also a noticeable difference in spread. Intensity was never an issue as I'm growing acros in the sand. Spread was the issue. Staying tuned for updates....

On a tank that size I would have started with 3 also. I did not finish the clean up work last night, needed to pick up my daughter's car from the shop, wash my car and go for a jog. Might not happen today either, I have to work this afternoon and I have a date with my wife this evening. We are kidless for the weekend so going to make the most of it.

Working the weekend sucks, I had just enough time to get maintenance done but no clean up work.

I broke my blue millie again. The thing is so fragile. Lucky it was just a single 3/4" branch this time.

Hang in there man! Are you normally slammed at work like this or is this a short term extra work thing?

This is out of the ordinary. We are testing some equipment for a client. I was splitting the weekend with the project manager so neither one of use had to be stuck at the office all day all weekend. I did yesterday after noon until 9:45 pm. I went in today to take the afternoon shift agin, but our boss wanted the operations manager instead in case help was needed to run some of the kit. Just walked in at home a few minutes ago.

The acro that got stung by the chaice got hammered really bad. Tissue has receded quite a bit. It looks to have stopped now.

A quick iPad shot. I am not done cleaning and what not.

It looks great!

How do you like that mount for the 52s ?

I'm just about to set up a custom built 60 cube.

It is ok, but it limits access. I need to adjust to it the arm was much better for access. I could hang it, but do not want to punch holes in the ceiling.

Thanks for the info.. It looks a little big and awkward for that size tank. I'm in the same boat, no holes in the ceiling.

I'm sure you're going to get great results with a pair of 52s covering such a small area so it'll be worth it !

It is really not bad. I am just use to having the top of the tank fully open.
