Well I did it!!!

Hi Mike, I think we are going to be going in the same direction..
Will you be using any starboard on the tank floor? Would like
to confer from time to time as you put your tank together...
Thanks,Roger..

Roger...I love talking about this stuff so if you have any suggestions for me, please let me know and I will let you know how things work for me.

I won't be using starboard only because I have seen some curl on the ends and it will save me a little money. Generally, I just paint the bottom under the aquarium with white paint. Plus, having an acrylic tank, I am not too worried about rock slides.

With that said, I haven't completely weighed out the use of starboard because I don't want any scratches in the tank, even if they are on the bottom.

I am seriously thinking about getting that Hammerhead tomorrow and start some plumbing this weekend.

My thoughts exactly, I just don't want any more scratches then nscy. I've posted a picture of the new tank. As you can see the openings will not allow a 36x18 sheet to be set in without doing some cutting on the board....I may just use some well through out PVC racks and leave it at that.

As you can see I have four 3/4" openings across the back for returns. May use them for a closed loop.

Sweet tank!!! Where did you get it and how much did you pay? Oh yeah, I am using a PVC rack too, almost forgot. So I won't need starboard. Thanks for the reminder. I just bought those cage fittings from AquaticEco to make the rack.

Hey bud...nope, not yet...heck, I ain't got anything yet!

Might have my tank at the house when I get home, if not, will have it tomorrow. Then my skimmer will be here on Monday. If the tank comes today and I like it...lol, I will start plumbing this weekend. If I don't like it, I will order one like Rogers, unless he paid an arm and a leg for it.

Well, because of space and the size of sump I want/need to use I can only fit a submersible pump. I have a Mag12 that I was planning on using but if you give me a good suggestion for a submersible pump, I would love to look into it.

Wouldn't ya know it!!! :mad2: The tank arrived today and it looks like crap!!! I have filed a claim with my CC because the vendor, who was fast to respond when I was buying it, hasn't responded yet.

The money is temp back in my account and they are looking into it. I am looking to order another tank. Any suggestions?

Mike

Well the inside height of the tank is 18" but the overflow is only 17". The slits on the overflow are just wider than a piece of paper and they are about every 1" or so. There is bubbles in the acrylic joints. It just sucks!

I got it from Glass Cages.com.

I am looking at a tank from SoCal Creations right now.
