So note to self. Do not use your phone as a flashlight for your tank. I was using it to move some rocks around at 6am. And was absent minded and rested it on the center beam of the tank to give me both hands.....immediately regretted the decision as my one arm bumped it....needless to say that is one fish I did not intend to have....$370 later most expensive POS flashlight i have ever had. The $3 LED flashlight I got from the dollar store will probably be much better....feel like such a moron lol....

You're not alone. Went swimming in St Martin this year. When I got back to the blanket I couldn't find my phone in the bag. It was in my pocket! DUH

If your mechanically inclined go to Ifixit website and they have a teardown for your phone. Open it up and dry everything off. I've done it twice when the wife's Iphone that went swimming. Worked both times.

Yep my husband and I have both done that... We won't discuss that it was more than once.... We now have 5-6 flashlights sitting in one arms reach of the stand, just to help us stop grabbing phones. Btw cheap head lamps are they way to go. If you know you are going to need extra light before you are shoulder deep in a tank.

Sorry man. It sucks. You are not alone.

Sorry to hear. I remember I was on a business trip and a friend was taking care of my tank, we were on the phone while I was explaining stuff for her and she was working on the sump, suddenly the call was disconnected, you can figure out the scenario :-)
One of the reasons I'm getting the iPhone 7!

At the least, there is light at the end of the tunnel . No pun intended.

Lol yeah i knew my mistake as soon as it happened. I have lost 3 phones in the past 2 years between fishing and fish keeping lol. Good news. Got a new samsung S6 and a LifeProof case. They advertise waterproof!! :) but definitely a lesson learned hoping all the other new comers learn from our mistakes! SAVE THE MONEY!!! Go buy flashlights!!

That does suck... For your tank, you should get a small clip on LED light if you want to maintain things during lights out. They're like 10-15 bucks on amazon. Clip it to the side of the tank and go nuts!

Ow. That hurts.

Go to Lowes, get one of those magnetic LED flashlights, and stick it to the fridge, always where you can find it.

Anytime anything electronic falls in water, dunk it immediately in RO/DI and rinse it off. RO/DI water is not conductive. Then stick it in a bag of dry rice for a day or two.
