What Dosing system for SPS reef?

Being my first time buying a dosing pump. Looking for something thats easy to set up and very reliable.

Budget: $200- 300
I want to dose, Cal, Alk, Mg.

Any recommendations?

Lots of good options. I went with the GHL2, though I'd not judge it as all that easy to setup. Typical German over engineering.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will review these.
I was thinking Bubble magnus or Apex Dos,- however DOS has only 2 pumps.

Anyone tried or have any feedback on the Apex DOS?

The timer is for fail safe?

The timer is for the doser to know when to come on and go off. It is really simple. Figure out how much the doser puts out per minute and then figure out how much of the alk, calc, and mag you need to dose. If your doser puts out 1.5ml per minute and you need to dose 50ml of alk per day you would set the timer to comE on for 33 minutes a day. You can also split up the dose through out the day and do 11 doses of 3 minutes.

how do you find out how much you need to dose? (the 50ml a day)

Get three BRS dosers and three timers. Done and work very well.

What he said, but really you only need 2. IME, Magnesium falls so slowly that a doser is just wasted money and space. Just check it about once a month - if it's low use the BRS calculator and just pour it in the sump.

GHL Doser 2 Stand Alone with 2 heads (can add one or two more later) is on sale for $305.
Once hooked up to MyGHL website it's extremely easy to set up and make changes. There is a mobile app too.
You get the rock solid engineering/firmware/build quality and GHL standing behind it.
Remember... a simple malfunction from a doser could cause you to wake up to a disaster.
Don't skimp.

That said, the suggestion for the BRS dosers on simple mechanical timers would also work and be pretty safe. It's just more of a pain to make changes.
I have both set ups on different tanks and eventually want to replace the brs setup with another ghl.

You see how much your tank is consuming via routine testing and then there are calculators (on the BRS site,etc..) that let you enter tank water volume, desired alk,etc... and give an approximate amount.. You try it out and see if it works then setup the doser to continue.. And keep testing till you are comfortable its a good amount then routinely to make sure its staying stable..

This GHL one seems pretty solid. Could be a winner:rollface:

GHL IMO is the best doser on the market. I mentioned the Kamoer earlier based on price but if you want to spend a few more dollars, it's a no brainer.

The DOS does a very nice job and would allow you to choose auto waterchanges down the line if you wanted. It's accurate, built nice, and wireless control/monitoring is nice. I'm sure ghl is nice but it's not like you need a Ferrari to put some liquid in your tank. How would it do it any better then another quality unit.

BRS dosing pumps with a simple timer is the easiest setup for a new reefer. If you can't operate a simple plug in timer you're in the wrong hobby.

I've been using BRS dosing pumps for years with zero issues. I highly recommend this setup.

This is not a knock against any other doser, and nothing is 100% fool proof, but to answer your question... it's not the hardware as much as the software/firmware.
If you've been around the forums long enough, you've seen the results of a doser going haywire in the middle of the night.
It's not pretty.

I just bought a Neptune DOS and wished I would have gone with a GHL. I love my DOS, especially how it configures with all my Neptune gear but I really think GHL makes a better product.
