What Going On in Your System Today?

My mandarins spawned and I added more fish so the tank is overcrowded and under maintained, thats about all that is new.

zachfishman, wow, glad you caught that. yep, that would definitely cause it. Good luck man.

Hey debincalif, what kind of frags are you gluing down?

gordonj1, wow, another leaper. Have you ever considered nylon netting instead of acryllic since it can warp under extreme heat, plus acryllic would retain heat and cause your temps to rise? Just a thought, but I'm sure you know what's best.

Paul B, congrats, was this unexpected?

Thanks all for sharing that.

Well, as I do once a year, I removed my CPR overflow. Gonna soak it overnight and clean it up like new. Will replace it tomorrow morning. How about you guys?

Mostly zoas and palys... of course! :inlove: I also picked up a really pretty torch. I never did get around to finding a home for everything, so that's on tap for today.

Went to the LFS and came home with frags of favia and cyphastrea... and 3 heads of sun coral, which will be a totally new coral to me. Fingers crossed! Oh, also a yellow clown goby because he winked at me. ;) LOL!

Sun corals are cool. I feed mine about twice a week.

For my system? Adding some more live rock to extend my zoa garden. Tank is getting really packed...going to need to upgrade in a year or so.

Do you keep your sun corals in a somewhat shaded area? Any tips you want to share?

Yes...make sure you feed them since they lack the algae other corals and clams have. I would suggest no less than twice a week. I tend to feed mine with a turkey blaster and feed each polyp. I keep mine in the light and they open up during the night. If yours do not open at all (most likely during the night or when they smell food), feed them in a cup with mysis directly on top. I have saved a few polyps this way from pet stores who don't know how to take care of them.

There are no limitations on this thread, just feel free to share anything relative to your tank that you'd like. That goes for everyone :wavehand:

I cleaned my baby brine feeder and installed a new mesh that the fish seem to enjoy. It also looks like my little female mandarin is getting ready to spawn again as she is gaining a little belly again even though she spawned a couple of weeks ago. This feeder takes care of that for me. If you look to the right you can see the gobi that lives with his shrimp. The gobi loves the feeder and tries to chase away the mandarins but he knows his limits and leaves the copperband, who monopolizes the feeder, alone.

Everyone wants in on that party!

Nothing going on in my tank today, but lots going on on eBay... I bit the bullet and bought some zoas I've had my eye on for almost a year. Ended up buying several others to qualify for free shipping. Whee - Merry Christmas to me (again)!

Thanks, Mooch! I can't wait for my new z&p's to arrive. They're all just small frags, but hopefully they'll grow out nicely. I'll post some pics once they get acclimated.

I'm not into playing the cartoon name game - I just like what I like. But all these z&p's (and one acan) are from Cornbred. Has anyone bought any of his corals? He has some amazing pieces! Curious to see if anyone has any experience to share.
