i just picked up one yesterday and acclimating it to my tank. seems to be alright. its mouth is open a bit. but it should be fine in a few days. just wanted to know so i can feed it when its well.

I make sure mine gets a little Formula 1 frozen food when I feed the tank every other day. I sometimes give a piece of shrimp or mahi mahi maybe 8 times a year. Mine is in a 60 gal tank so I don't need it to grow too fast. I have had it about 3 years.

feed magnifica small stuff- mackerals, jacks, tangs etc.

just kidding :D

I've had best results feeding ritteri smaller foods such as HUFA enriched mysids.

I feed mine silversides, shrimp, squid, fresh anchovies, cut up mackerel, scallops, and occasionally krill. I cut the food into small pieces approximately the size of a pea.

with the prices of yellow tang going up locally im going to hold of on that snack :)haha. im going to try silversides and shrimp.

how are you guys feeding it? spot with turkey baster?

In the wild they are planktonic feeders. Meaning krill sizes and smaller. HUFA enriched mysis, brine shrimp, etc... Mine has been doing well and growing nicely for over a year.

I feed mine one food at a time. I don't mix them up. It seems they quickly get tired of eating the same thing over and over (as indicated by a less eager feeding response). So, I feed one type of food at a time. I feed several small pieces by placing them on the tentacles with plastic feeding tongs. Occasionally I soak my food in Selcon, but not every feeding. With silversides and shrimp, assuming the foods haven't been too long in the freezer, you should get a good feeding response. If you have the occasion to get mackerel or fresh anchovies, you should try those. I suppose it's the high fat content, my mags grab those especially vigorously.

I have two and I feed them mostly Mysis. I will periodically change up the diet a bit if I'm at a market that has decent seafood. They have supplemented their diet with a few fish from my tank. My daughter's strawberry pseudochromis got taken which was a sad day. A yellow tailed damsel also got grabbed which was a (secretly) happy day since I hadn't been able to catch the little bugger out of my tank.
