what the hell is the sps bug and why did it bite me?

I used to love the flowing look of a softie tank and all the colors of lps...Now f4 or 5 years in to this hobby, all i want is monti caps and acros....what the heck happened to me? I think I picked up this sps bug here on reef centrral...I wish you guys would not show up to this forum while still contagious...its just bad etiquette

I got infected before I even set up my first salt water tank. It was going to be a FOWLR and ended up being a sps nano tank.... ouch quite bitting me!

I know it seems like everyone and there mother have SPS tanks when on these forums. But in reality, VERY VERY few people know what you are talking about when you say that you have a SPS Reef Tank. They look at you in bewilderment and say "Ohh..Thats cool", but in reality they have no idea what you just said.

Then they actually see the tank and are like "Damn! That's awesome."

Also not too mention. Alot of people just cant grow or keep SPS alive. So it kinda gives that satisfaction that not everyone can do it.

i bought my first sps frags about a year or so ago from a guy in the local reef club. now they pretty much dominate the whole top half of my reef. im actually out of room on the rocks so ive been using pc-11 marine apoxy to attatch frag disks to the back glass of my corner shaped tank.

Try frag mags, might like it better than epoxy.

For me it all started when a friend gave me a birdsnest and it triples in size over the summer and boom, I was addicted to growing them!!! Now I am setting up a 93g cube and really don't think about anything but SPS corals!!

I too would buy frags even though I had no room and I would just tell my wife, " there's always room for a new frag"! I stocked my take so full that one day she said we needed a bigger tank! Those were the sweetest words I ever heard come out of her mouth! Haha

Yes it is always a friend that turns you on. You stare at them at in the lfs display tank and don't think they are worth the money until some one gives you one and you are successful with it. Then you are hooked.

lol. maybe they meant to mean the hardiest? id probably start off with a couple cheaper ora pieces to get a feel. being aqua-cultured for so long, alot of their pieces can really take a beating(first hand from my tank) really tends to help with beginners for sure.

pure 100% ora....oh yea...that'll fix you up...reef farmers also has some really good stuff.............I need a fix.....just bought 2 frag packs on the for sale forum....should be good for a couple of weeks...the paranoia produced by this addiction is the worst...I'm peering into the tank constantly thinking "those AEFWs and red bugs are out to get me man!...wait a minute, was that spot on that acro before?....I gotta dip that one man":worried2:
