What's the best environment for Acans?

I have had Acans for quite awhile and they seem to b slow growers. Right now they r 18 inches from a 96 watt t5 ho fixture. Should I move them up into the rocks closerr to the fixture? I feed them twice a week. There's ebb and flow water movement too.

depends on what you mean by slow, i purchased a 3 head one, i have about 6 smaller heads now growing off of it after 2-3 months. keep in mind those heads are about 1/4 the size right now as the larger ones, as far as i'm aware the only things that can really explode are gsp and some softies. I would consider my growth pretty decent, the more heads the colony has, the quicker they tend to grow as well i think.

i have most of mine very close to the sand bed. in my experience they typically don't care for a lot of light.

i also have them under gentle to moderate flow, but by far the biggest thing that helped me was keeping alkalinity stable as a rock.

i had trouble getting them to grow when my alkalinity was fluctuating, after i started dripping kalk and monitoring more closely they started blowing up.
