Maybe not enough flow? If you don't enough flow, they might slump over. Corals like kenya tree corals can slump over if they don't have enough flow.

If its moving with the flow, perhaps then you might have too much flow directed at it or something that it is just getting blown down.

Another thing is, your xenia might not be healthy. Healthy ones with adequate flow should stay upright, ones that aren't healthy or dying will slump over and melt, etc.

How long have you had it?

Also I wonder if perhaps there is some kind of chemical warfare going on with your little xenia and some of the corals nearby it.

Lastly, perhaps something to do with your water quality?

Check everything out. If you have adequate flow, then test your water, if water is fine, then perhaps put some carbon in your tank and see how it does then.

I've had it for about 3 weeks, added new carbon over the weekend, water seems ok, had it tested at the LFS and they said my alk/dkh it was perfect (this was a concern for a few days)
Mag is 1275,
iodine is 0.06ish
Calc 428
Ph 8.2
dk 8.2

I have been dosing magnesium to get it up to snuff this week, i also dosed soon alk buffer latter part of last week. but all else seems ok.

Location: It is near a cup coral that slimes alote... Also ther has been some slime going around the tank recently, not sure from were though, could be a finger leather that i have on the opposite end of the tank...

Yestarday i did notice some slime on the xenia too

How can i help it???

Is the xenia on a piece of rock that you can move? If so, move the xenia somewhere else. The slime from your cup coral or finger leather could be hurting it.

i have read somewhere, that when you have xenias it is better not to have carbon in the tank. check your water parameters.iodine, iron ,strotenium and other trace elements are necessary(depending how often you do water changes) sometimes xenias that have been doing well for long times ,go heywire and just melt away for no apparent reaseon. it seems lots of people have the same prroblems with xenias. also i read xenias and mushrooms do not like to be in the same tank. good lucl. jakleen

I had not heard that before... do you remember where you read it?

There's multiple kinds of mushrooms in our tank with our Xenia and we've never had a problem growing Xenia.
