Who here collect's there own fish

I just got done moving and am hunting for something to take pics with. the pompano are the only fish I have had a hard time keeping alive in the bucket for any length of time. they are doing great in the aquarium though. schooling and eating like champs

later in the summer and early fall when the water is the warmest you can find quite a few tropicals. it's kind of bare until then, but yeah, there are a few spots that hold some nice fish. hands down the best way to get them is to dive some of the wrecks, but anywhere there are some rocks on the bottom you can find decent ornamentals.

Yesterday I went crab collecting, Of course they were blue claws and I just kept them long enough to eat

Unfortunately, my weekends are all booked up with boat parties so I have to limit my tropical fish collecting to weekdays. I will be off for a few weeks. Do you have any free weekdays to go collecting?

If not I will have to go alone. My boat is on the north shore and as you know there are very few tropicals in the Sound. I have only collected seahorses there and very few at that.

tell you what paul b we will get togeather one day during the week when the tide is right and do some easy sine net collecting. We will get a lot of cool things. I got some more lionfish resently doing it that way :D

we've also had lionfish in bermuda for a few years now too. i haven't caught any but they have a display at the aquarium and a few people have also caught some for their tanks. the government still hasn't discovered yet if they are a threat to our reffs yet. i think it will be a wait and see situation. i might go to the aquarium today and get some pics for you guys.

here is a pic of the lionfish as well as a few outher fish i caught this year,

Local Macro

Local Macro

I harvested this Macro in Shark River. I have only found it in 2 small areas, it seems very uncommon. It is branched, like a tree, has a base attached to structure and this group was attached to a floating Dock about 12 inches under water. I placed a piece in 2 different Tanks and some in a sump to see if it will survive in captivity. If it thrives it could be a nice addition to our Macros.
